Rerally about a 4 and a half
Great little box, replaced a Pluggable unit that also worked well, both were helping a poor, tired old 2013 Asus A502C laptop which had lost its teeth (the HDMI thing just fell out while I was switching cables about three yearrs ago, and the mandible on the network jack broke a littler earilier than that).Since I have more money, or rather, credit than brains, I've just swapped in a Kensington USB to Displayport adapter and moved the ethernet connection to the USB to ethernet adapter that came today, and used a hub (reviews are coming for those and other recent gizmos) to host the wired kbd and mouse. My monitor is a 32" Samsung curved one, with dual HDMI and DP inputs. Sound out doesn't seem to work, I may fiddle with that later. Both the Targus and the Kensington turned themselves into the default sound output without saying anything, sort of makes sense, would appreciate a heads up from now on.

Useful But Has Coil Whine
Great — with caveats. Good cable length, nice matte plastic build (I much prefer it to metal), has non-slip feet. One downside is that it has a *lot* of coil whine (whirring sounds) when plugged to a usb-c power supply but not the host computer (i.e. the cable end of the adapter isn’t plugged into anything). Goes away when you remove the sub-c power cable or plug the adapter in.Keep in mind the adapter only supplies 60W max to the computer — so if you have a 15.4 or 16 inch MacBook Pro then it won’t be as much as those machines can take (87 and 96W respectively)

Useful device for connections to slimmer laptops with fewer ports
I ordered this adaptor for the dual purposes of connecting ethernet and a second screen to my new laptop, which is very thin and light so lacks either ethernet or HDMI ports. It performs this task well and includes a couple of extra USB ports too which is handy.I have no idea of the sophistication of the electronics contained in the (admittedly compact and well designed) box, but it would be nice if the price was a little lower.

Great value and compact
Much cheaper than buying a docking station and does everything needed and very compact. No installation required just plugs in and works.
