Granatan Mailbox Latch and Handle Kit

i used this to replace the broken catch on my mailbox.i was disappointed the holes were spaced differently but i have a drill.i used 3/16 aluminum rivets to install it because thats how the origional one was installed.

Simple mailbox with a stupid plastic latch was installed in our home at the time we purchased it. Between the Oklahoma wind, post-person delivery slamming the door, and hot summer sun , the latch broke within a year of use. Finding an all-metal latch here online was GREAT. It was easy to install, and seems to work flawlessly. I am very pleased with this upgrade... Good outcome!

Well made and sturdy. Although it's supposed to fit most standard mail box's, I had to do some minor adjustments to the holes on my mail box to make it fit. But all in all it works well.

I would have thought that mailbox latches would be somewhat standardized, but this is much smaller than the existing latch and of course does not line up with the existing screw holes. I managed to Frankenstein a temporary compromise using parts of the old latch, but this product is thin and small. I will need to find the correct latch at some point. I don't recommend this product.

I had to drill a new hole for one of the screw points because the top latch didn’t perfectly align with my mailbox, but it fit the new hole just fine and now the whole latch makes the mailbox door feel like it did when it was new.

Purchased this latch kit thinking the metal version would be better than the plastic versions also available.Well, a good metal latch would be better, but this latch is horribly flimsy. It has a bit more tensile strength than, say, a 3x5 note card. It's .028" thick; by comparison, the smallest paper click I could find comes in at .037" thick (25% thicker). It's laughable that something like this is sold with a straight face.This one is getting returned.

I don't know how old my mailbox is, but it is. The plastic handle and latch broke off, and I realized I had to do something about it. I waited for a warmer day. The screws and nuts are tiny and required washers to make them fit the holes pre-drilled in the mailbox. It took me probably 3/4 of an hour to install it. Fortunately, everything fit and has been tightened.
