Ughhhhh
Well it is definitely solid wood, but I can't really say much more than that. No matter what torque I used on the drill, I wound up having to hand screw all of the short screws. Then when it came to the longer screws, I could only one halfway into the holes. I attempted the drill again at that point, and stripped the screw. I guess I will have to attempt drilling the hole wider. I did purchasecwood glue per other reviewers recommednations, and good thing too, because the dows are not always a good fit. I know that these things can't always be precision, but this is a bit over the top. So is my frustration level, and I am a pretty patient person.EDIT:I updated my review after completion, added a star, and a photo. So, after what felt like an eternity, I finally got this thing together. The "predrilled holes" were not drilled properly on most of the pieces. This made using the Phipps head as suggested, impossible in most cases. I had to drill the holes out myself, and then drill the screws in. Even still, I was met with resistance, stripped bits, and stripped screw heads. I'm not a carpenter, but I am very handy. This was not an easy undertaking. If you don't know how to hand drill holes straight enough into a thin piece of wood, you are going to be in for it. The holes that were precut for the dows weren't always drilled deep enough. This wasn't much of an issue until it came to the table, and stand-alone bench. Considering they use the locking bolts, and Alan keys, the Dow started to push through the wood as I tightened. I had to hammer the dows down to reshape them until they fit as they were meant to. You aren't supposed to over tighten the screws when you build furniture, but I found it difficult to find a happy medium with that. I'm certain that there are spots where my screws are too tight, because loosening them, meant that the pieces wouldn't be flush at all in many cases. The wood glue is an absolute MUST. I purchased Gorilla wood glue along with this order. The instruction manual ironically tells you "simple." No. Not simple at all. If the manual has to tell you this in the first step, that is probably a fair warning haha. Now that it is complete, we love it. It fits perfectly in our kitchen, and matched up with the architecture of our windows. If I had to do this again, I would probably pay for assembly. I see many reviews almost shaming buyers for complaining about difficulties considering the "low price." No this isn't an $800 dinette. That doesn't mean that it should be defective. If "you get what you pay for," I paid for a table that was supposed to be "simple" to assemble as it claims.

I LOVE my breakfast nook
I LOVE my breakfast nook. Indeed made out of solid pine wood. My neighbor put it together for me as I am handicapped and unable to do it. I got lucky, I guess, because many years ago, he had a job putting these together -- it only took him 6 hours (with a few breaks now and then) to get it together by himself! The table is a bit smaller than I thought it would be and needs to be a couple inches higher. I have to slide the table away from me whenever I get up and pull it back after I sit. I think the main reason for that is that (insert expletive) trim that rises a little above the seat on the sides from the end boards. I am constantly whacking my leg on it when I get out which makes sliding in and out of the seat impossible. I don't really use the bench but it's there for company. Might try to use it as a coffee table later. The seats themselves are not that comfortable to sit in. The edges haven't been rounded so are sharp and get painful on the back of the legs. The seats, in my estimation, are a couple inches too short and should come out closer to the back of the knee. The seat hits me in the back of the thigh, just short of midway between bottom and back of knee. A little more sitting space would be perfect so now I have to purchase the cushions and hope they do the job of keeping that edge away from me. The bench edges, however, are rounded. So for those reasons, it only get 4 stars. But if I had it to do all over again, I WOULD. I have a small studio, live alone and it is perfect for me. I use the table as a desk and use my laptop on it. I have a tablecloth on it to further protect the wood. It is easy to quickly clear off and set up when I have small dinner parties. It's GREAT and I LOVE it.

Received broken pieces and complicated setup
This table was what we were looking for and within our price range. It looks beautiful when setup, but we had multiple issues. We received it with 5 pieces damaged with cracks or dents. I contacted the company via email to get replacement pieces. After waiting the timeframe that the site stated to in order to get a response, I ended up calling. They sent replacement pieces immediately. Then I received an email stating the original request I submitted was fulfilled, so I ended up with two replacements. It was a good thing, too, because in the replacement packages one set had two damaged pieces and the other set had 3 pieces that weren't stained/Finished. Thankfully the pieces that weren't damaged and were finished from the replacements were the ones needed.Setup I knew would be a challenge just from reviews and I'm glad I had the backup pieces because not all of the boards were pre-drilled correctly. When I drilled out one of the holes, it snapped my bit. It was completely solid and I ended up using a non-stained piece in it's place. I was able to put the table together by myself, but it took several hours and much frustration because of the improperly drilled holes and other issues. I made sure to use wood glue on the pieces to ensure it would have the proper support. The corner piece doesn't line up exactly as it says, but I was able to make it work.Overall, we do love the table. It's great for our growing family of 6 and we even considered getting a second set to expand it as I saw on another review. It was just very frustrating to deal with putting together and if I hadn't received a second replacement set in error, I would've just returned the whole thing since one replacement set wouldn't have fixed the issue. They definitely need better quality control in the warehouse to ensure pieces are finished/stained and to package it better to avoid cracks and dents. We've now had this table for several months and haven't had any damage issues, even with little ones. However, the bottom of one of the benches is coming out and I can't just undo and put it back in place since my set is wood glued. I will be finding a different support board to attach underneath instead.
