Q: Does this come in the little pot as shown in the picture or just with a metal ring around the base

Our plants didn’t come in a pot. (My wife wasn’t sure at first but remembered that it was posted in a nearly flat envelope through the letter box.) The plant was a nice specimen - she actually split it into 2 and both pieces are now growing nicely. Hope this helps..

Q: Do these need to be in aquatic compost or do they just need putting in water

You just put them in the gravel no compost required. However you can still buy these from pets at home much better quality than these

Unfortuanally fish will eat most plants, the only thing we can suggest is keeping your fish well fed
