Substantial
This works great! Such a solid tool, and it's nice to know that it won't crack while trying to put shoes on, like the thin plastic ones do. And you can use it to ward off ornery wildlife.

Best Ergonomic Design & will last 100 years
This thing is amazing. I bought the Black one first and yes, it arrived with a small chip on the finish but nothing to write home about... the paint does "NOT" flake off, it's almost like a solid powder coat finish. Nevertheless, I bought two more, both brushed Nickel. One for my upstairs/downstairs (I have two) and one for my Dad. If you have a disability and find it difficult put-on shoes, tie laces, etc., then this is DEFINITELY for you. The way it's designed is just incredible, I can't explain it... you just have to try it. The handle is grip-friendly and the horn itself slides right off of your heel, protecting your shoes too. I just love it. The curved, naturally ergo-friendly design is really neat. I'm so excited about a darn shoehorn, know but seriously, this will forever change your life, trust me. -- Highly recommend.

High quality, easy to use shoe horn
This is an excellent shoe horn for putting on boots (construction, hiking, etc.). I put the horn down the back of the boot and the foot slides right in.The metal thickness is just right - thick enough to prevent the horn from bending (many reviewers commented that it can double as a weapon to beat off house intruders) and yet thin enough, so that it does not obstruct the foot's sliding motion into the boot. The black horn itself was perfect - there was no chipped paint, so I didn't have to touch it up with a Sharpie. This is such a good tool and such a pleasure to use, I now understand why other reviewers raved about it and gave it 5 star ratings.

This baby is strong & heavy
This is an excellent shoe horn for those looking for a strong (not likely to bend) shoehorn. Thick smooth steel metal all the way. I've bent a couple of other lesser shoe horns putting on tight boots during the winter. I won't have that problem with this Ortho Step Shoe horn. It weighs in at 14.3 ounces (405g.), and the handle feels ergonomic with a nice thick roundish handle. Its length has a nice curvature to it, and it has no sharp edges to bite you. With its heft and solidity it would probably also be good cudgel for those so inclined...?If this shoehorn does not succeed in getting your foot into that tight shoe or boot, that footwear is too small for your feet. The shoe will split-open before this shoehorn will give up. Don't hurt yourself.

Very nice
I’m a simple person so from the start I can say this is a cool looking shoe horn, but there is more to it then that. It’s very sturdy which is great when you have steel toe shoes with thick heal support.I really like that it is wide and all the edges are smooth.Other shoe horns have ripped the heal in my socks. I have not had any ripped socks since using this shoe horn.If there is any con I can think of is that my daughter likes to use it like a sword. :)Summary: well designed very cool looking and very sturdy shoe horn.No regrets with this purchase.

Nice and sturdy
Would have given 5 star but there was a very small chip on the finish. So far it has not spread but I don't use daily or abuse it. I took a black permanent marker and touched it up. It's not for show but for function so I decided to keep.

Think it through as there are pros and cons
It's durable steel so it's never going to break on you. However, it's durable steel and there will be no flex with heel cup to foot and you may not like the forced feel.If you want to hang it on a door knob, it is going to clang and bang and possible damage your paint/door finish over time. I but an adhesive felt pad (for furniture) square on the hanging area but it still needs to be purposely put back to achieve the desired result.I wouldn't deter anyone from this product, just realize there are some inherent advantages to the plastic versions where buying multiple replacements over a lifetime isn't necessarily the worst thing to do.

Awesome for boots or any shoe.
It is sturdy. I would not recommend it for elderly, or people who struggle lifting, but for young adults, it works like a charm. I use it for my work boots, as they get older they need a little rigidity support to get on. No issues with the coating flaking off mine, it is the black one. But if you are indecisive about it, I recommend it. Does exactly what I want and need it to. The thin metal one I had previously got all bent up. This one could take on a home invader.
