Sonnet Student Grade Watercolor Paint Set 21 Full Pans 2.5ml Vibrant Colors for Artists and Beginners in in Portable Metal Box by Nevskaya Palitra

Highly pigmented student grade, but leveled up watercolor paint palette. Good value for quantity and quality. Sturdy metal pallet (a bit large & heavy to hold in your hand, so I don't use the finger loop on the bottom). Wide range of colors, although white watercolor & black are not really needed. No pigment formulas available, but pretty close to very common watercolor pigments, some may be dye-based, probably staining, so I would not let kids loose with this unsupervised. Nice saturation, have tried glazing successfully & mixing some, but not a ton. Rewet nicely, recommend a light water spritz about 5min before painting to get better washes. See pics for swatches. Clear plastic swatch card doubles as a nice cover for wet paints, have only had minimal runs from pan to pan after a class. Would recommend as a class pallette, or an upgrade from chalky student pans.

I ordered this set because I saw it came with a Sonnet metal box/palette. I have a various student and artist grade watercolour but not White Nights. I know White Nights offers a few sets with metal boxes so I can get those whenever. However, I've only ever seen Sonnet come in cardboard boxes so this seemed like a 'limited edition' product to me. I must get it before I never find it again. So I got it. Eva Store wrapped the box in multiple layers of bubble wrap so everything stayed in tact and in perfect condition. When I opened the box and took the metal palette out, the first thing I noticed was that the colour of the box isn't as 'saturated' as I had expected. From the pictures on the listing, I expected it to be a medium yellow but the real product is slighter paler. I would say it's between a medium yellow and a pastel yellow. I quite like that the colour is not as bright as I had expected. Note that this metal palette does not have a second extending palette like other standard 24-halfpan metal palettes. I was aware of this as the listing pictures are accurate but just thought I would reiterate. There is lightfast info but no pigment info. However, Sonnet has pigment info online. The full pans did not come wrapped like you would get with most other well known branded watercolour pans. This was good as I did not have to spend time unwrapping them. A colour chart was also provided and fits well inside the palette. I really like the colour chart as it feels like plastic and I will not have to worry about paint sticking onto it. I can just clean it off. Unfortunately the chart doesn't have pigment info but I can write that down myself with a permanent marker. The paints were easy to rewet and vibrant. The sap green isn't the same as I'm used to with cotman, rembrandt, etc but it's a nice bright lighter green nonetheless. pics will be attached

The product photo and another review indicated it didn't have a fold-out tray for mixing like most other brands, but the one I received did have the tray in addition to the underside of the lid. Also, most of this set would generally be considered non-toxic. I found the pigment information on the Nevskaya Palitra website (but do note that Raw Sienna, English Red, and Sepia are not included in this product, I'm just including them here for completeness). I love the yellow color of the case totally unique to others I've seen on the market the paints are pretty good they're more creamy than others I've tried like Windsor and Newton they have awesome pigment and they're great for the price.

I know these are the student grade white nights, but I love them. Ive had them for a while now, compared them to my white nights, and honestly prefer and enjoy using this set over my whitenights set because of the tin and nice colors. 10/10 definitely reccommend

I like the palette colors

Not only great watercolor paints but the yellow tin palette is a beauty :) Unfortunately it arrived dented....I waited so long for it to arrive - I decided to keep it anyway.

These are full pans and consists huge amounts of paints .The are 21 vibrant colours that can be used in opaque as well as transparent ways. The colours do not get excess dried up instead remains wet in the pans. Two different colours blend beautifully with each other. Colours also give beautiful wash effects. Excellent product.The yellow tin container is neat n beautiful.A bit pricey but worth buying.Definitely go for it.

Best color palette that I have used. This is at par with Winsor & Newton. Priced reasonably. Amazing colors.
