NES Elementary Education Secrets Study Guide: NES Test Review for the National Evaluation Series Tests Study Guide Edition

I used this alongside another study guide when studying for the NES exams. It has good info, the organization of the book is just poor. It comes with a code for an online test. The test they give is MUCH harder than the actual NES exam, so its not a great measure of how you will do on the actual test. Overall, works fine, glad I had it, but wish It was organized in a more logical way.

The practice test off web site is excellent. I did use this book and the "tips" were exceptional. Passed the test. All I can say is study your butt off. That is the key to success with NES. The two things I mentioned were the very best for me. I studied on lunch hour and breaks. Took one Friday and printed out the practice test and really focused on my weakness. The book has tips that I used. I have handed this book to another that is ready to take the NES. 1) Take the practice test on the web site 2) Read the NES study guide and look at the tips 3) Study (if you can) one whole day without interruption. Much success!

I really like and appreciate how the subjects are apart from one another. I like how the information is simple and precise. I think it is cool how secret keys as well as practice tests are included. Thank you for those! The only thing I would recommend would be to separate the subjects that are on each exam. For example, if the first NES exam is ELA and (let's say) Science, then put them in a obvious section. I think this would be easier on what sections we need to study when taking a look at the book. Other than that I am very satisfied with the product!

This book is full of links to videos and goes over content for English, Social Studies, Math, Science, Art, Music, and P.E.. The practice tests will give you a good idea of what content you know and what you struggle with. However, most of the NES Subtest 1 was related to instruction and curricular application, which this book does not cover. I think this book is more useful for Subtest 2 which is math and science, since it thoroughly covers those subjects

If you are wanting to purchase this to assist you with the NES SUBTEST ll please don't spend your money on this. After taking the exam twice I have realized that there really isn't a guide out there that is similar to the test. HERE IS WHAT I RECOMMEND FOR YOU TO STUDY: GRAPHS- There will be MANY graphs on the exam. You'll have to search for patterns within the graphs. Make sure that you understand how to read all type of graphs. LOGICAL REASONING QUESTIONS- The exam had about four logical reasoning questions. I didn't know that they would be on the exam. So, I didn't get a chance to practice these at all. Here is an example of a logical reasoning question. There are twice as many adult tickets sold as children's tickets. If adult tickets cost $8 and children's tickets cost $5 and if $4200 was collected, how many of each type were sold?MILITARY TIME WORD PROBLEMS- The exam had about three questions involving military time. Just like the logical reasoning questions I didn't know these type of questions would be on the exam. The exam will also ask you to convert seconds into hours, seconds into minutes, minutes into days, and so on. Good luck!

This study guide will help me prepare for the test because it is in an organized format. I don't have to go looking for all the information I am supposed to be studying, it is all right in front of me. This study guide makes the stress from the test less overwhelming. I take a little bit of the information in this guide each day, study it, and then apply it on my practice test. This process allows for me to absorb the information over a long period of time and it doesn't disrupt my whole day. I think this guide will greatly benefit my test scores. Erin C.

I have found this guide to be very user friendly and comprehensive. I especially appreciate the thoughtfulness of the overcoming test anxiety and overcoming your fear of math section.
