Very heavy-duty canvas and webbing. In my opinion, this is actual milsurp gear.
I've been looking for a means to carry AK47 magazines. I've tried Chinese 3-mag and 4-mag chest rigs, all advertised as military surplus, but many are "commercial" products maid from "fabric store" materials and perhaps only suitable for a Halloween costume or for paint ball. This item appears, in my estimation, to be an actual piece of milsurp gear made with heavy canvas and webbing.Besides having 5 pouches sized to carry 5 7.63-39 30-round mags (I've tried steel milsurp mags, Croation polymer mags, and MagPul polymer mags), it has a pouch for an oil bottle on one side and a pouch for the almost universal AK-47 tubular cleaning and tool kit on the other side. It also has loops on the back for a waist belt so the entire (heavy-when-loaded) pouch will not bang against you when carrying.Great piece of gear (and will work for AR-15 mags as well, except that you might have to stuff some padding in the bottom as the AR mags are shorter).

Great quality
Thick, quality canvas material. Fits AR mags perfectly. Great for the range. After a couple trips to the range I noticed a 10 round magpul magazine fits perfectly in one of the side pockets as well.

Awesome
Only thing I didn’t like is mine came with a loop ripped in half so you can’t close one of the little side pouches

Holds 5 AK mags or 7 AK-V/Scorpion mags!
This is a tough little bag. Plenty of room for five Ak mags. I like the slanted bullets out contour of the bottom to support the curve of the mags. Yes, this will hold seven palmetto AK-v/ Scorpion evo mags! Just what I wanted. The side flaps will not close around them tho. Top flap fits just fine. Side flaps and top will close over standard 30 round mags. Top and bottom flaps will not close over 40 round RPK mags but they will fit in the pockets just fine. Side pockets can hold an AK cleaning kit and oil bottle but not much else. Stay safe and happy shooting.

Irony
I find it ironic that something made in China and by Communists is of such high quality. But that is because they weren't originally intended for Americans, but for their own armies. For the price you really can't beat it, and I could not find any comparable alternatives.

Received a damaged pouch
Received my pouch today. When I removed it from the packaging I noticed a frayed piece on the left side. Upon examination, the catch for the pocket on that side is missing completely. Other than this defect/damage, the pouch appears to be in excellent condition. Giving 3 stars due to receiving a damaged item that is not repairable.

Fits various AR magazines
Purchased this for a friend to carry AR mags in 7.62x39 cal. It fits 30 round steel/aluminum mags (7.62x39) perfectly and they are easy to insert and remove. The steel/ aluminum 28 round mags (7.62x39) fit just below the seam so they are easy to insert, and just slightly more difficult to grasp during removal but still slide out smoothly- this is the same for 30 round .223 polymer PMAGS and 30 round steel/aluminum in .223. It will hold 40 round .223 polymer PMAGS but the loop closure would need to be extended by about 1.5 inches or a few small pieces of Velcro would need to be sewn to the flap to keep it closed (or add snaps). It was designed for AK mags so I'm sure they fit, but we couldn't find any to test. Durability seems typical strong army surplus level but only time will tell. It was bagged well, looks new/ never issued, has a bit of musty surplus smell to it, but nothing terrible and I'm sure it will fade in a few days. Great value to price IMO, my friend is happy.
