Love this brush!
I have Winsor and Newton brushes from the Sceptre range dating back to the late 80’s and whilst their bristles are still beautiful the paint has chipped and flaked off the handle. I reluctantly bought this one to see if I liked it as much and so far so good! Bristles have the right amount of spring for me and I feel like I can control the liquid/pigment well. Let’s see if this one lasts as long.

Frayed
I was so disappointed. This brush is for detail work and the hair strands were all frayed even though the tip was encased in a plastic tube. As soon as I pulled it out, I could see all the “fly away” strands. It will be impossible to use for fine lines. I would not purchase again. I would return it, but I live in Alaska and getting to the post office is not always so easy.

Trusty and good all round
WN makes decent WC brushes and this Sceptre Gold mix series is good enough for everyday practice and for real painting. I just wish this size 7 had a better, sharper point, but it’s handy for now and I’m using it on practise projects that call for size 7. It’s a go to, tried and true, series when one can’t afford pure sable or higher end brushes. It’s a safe adventure.:)Okay. Trying to write a review for WN Sceptre Gold brush size 16, but it links me to this review I wrote earlier...Wow! This beautiful brush size 16 came all nicely packaged in its original bag, with a plastic protector on the ferrule, and it’s all new! Nice and sturdy. I just had to wash the hard stuff from the bristles and shape and it has a very nice point so far:) Trusty and good all round. Thanks!

Best 0000 micro detailer
I adore this specific brush!!!! This micro tip (0000) is perfect for essential fine line work when detailing whatever you are painting!! I usually buy W&N series 7 brushes but haven’t found one as small as this brush that holds its load and maintains its tip without flattening out into a broaden line. Epic!!! Arrived with protective tip covers still intact which as you know is necessary, especially with a tip this small!!! Do yourself a favor and buy Masters brush cleaner and preserver and use it each time you finish painting with any brush, especially tiny detail brushes!!!

Paint brush
Nice brush, however, I thought the bristles would make a narrower line on the canvas.

Great value, highly recommend!
Really love the affordability of these brushes. They have a good point on the brush, absorb water/paint very well and are an option I can afford as a beginner painter.

Hairs splinter off but retains water and pigment very well
I've been using this for a few months now and it holds water really well for painting so it's a great tool in that regard, but the bristles while mostly remain pointed tend to splinter off a ton and it can get hairs into the painting which is a hassle. I have other brushes from this brand I like so I'll continue to try others.

Worth money
It's a good quality brush. Working good on fine details like painting tree branches, flowers stems and leaves. I recommend you to have one.

Nice brush
Arrived with a few hairs splayed. Brush was obviously just shoved into an Amazon cardboard packet with nothing to protect it. Some hairs have shed in use. I'm hoping this doesn't continue - its a size 10 so I can afford to lose a few. Brush is nice and springy and holds the paint well. I expected perfection from Windsor and Newton so I'm slightly disappointed, hence only 4 stars.

Didn't live up to the reviews
I loved this brush at first. It was firm and fine tipped. However like every other fine detail brush I've used, it's worm really quickly. Faster in fact that the previous one that I switched from. I've used this brush for less than 2 weeks and need to replace it already. It seems all detail brushes are the same. Probably won't bother with this brand again

Don’t bother
For a fairly expensive brush this is crap. As soon as I took the protective cap off the bristles frayed and on first use completely lost its point. I have had cheaper brushes better than this.Extremely disappointed wouldn’t recommend

Good Watercolour Brush
This brush is a good all rounder. The brush has synthetic fibres along with the sable providing a good balance of spring and control of water. It is also inexpensive enough to replace when worn out so can use freely lifting washes and washing away water when negative painting. The brush is a bit more robust than pure sable and well worth the money.

50%hair 50%synthetic 100%rubbish
I’m so disappointed with this brush. It seems like your buying real hair but it’s not and the synthetic mix doesn’t work at all. Go all real or all synthetic
