MDM Tamarind flavored Candy roll 12pc tray 1lb 5.16oz (600g) rollo dulce tamarindo

OK...my bad for not noticing the "flavored" qualifier before the term tamarind. I love tamarind and thought I had found my dream snack in easy edible form. Read the ingredients list carefully, if you can find it. This is not your mom's healthy fruit roll. In fact, it is not a fruit roll at all, despite being described as a roll. When you open the plastic (which is shaped akin to a roll), you find a sticky gooey gob of the sweet, with the consistency of slightly hardened (old) honey. I was hoping to use this to wrap around my mango popsicle, for an improv version of a mangonada. Won't be happening with this sweet goop, alas. That said, there is something to be said for eating the goop directly from the plastic wrap with a little espresso spoon. It is somehow wonderfully evocative of childhood and the pleasures of eating jap out of a jar (when mom was not looking!). So four stars for that pleasure, minus two stars for the suggestion that this is akin to a fruit roll. No stars deducted for my bad of no seeing that this was "flavored" and not the real deal.
