I bought this unit because it mentions the no subscription fees to use the app for the smart features. Other brands you have to pay monthly. At first the setup was a little shaky during the installation procedure. However, I just called customer support and it was just a matter of updating the app with the latest version before setup – just as you would with any other app on your phone. From there forward, the setup was really quick and began working right away. We’ve been using it consistently for a few days between the whole family. You’ll get notifications whenever the garage has been opened and by who, if you want – just depends how you set your settings. We haven’t needed to yet, but you can also grant access to guests. Given the relatively easy setup, the convenience and safety this piece adds to your home, and the fact there are no subscription fees, I definitely would recommend this to any friends or family!

At first, this saved me from having to buy a new garage door opener just for a stupid remote antenna being broken! This works on your smart phone away from home! It is very convenient and allows you to share use of your door with your friends and family, all for ZERO monthly costs unlike the competitors products, WHEN IT WORKS!!! It broke in less than a year, the connection always goes out and I got an all new sensor after weeks of fighting with customer support. Customer support accused me of putting in the batteries wrong when I quadruple checked everything and even had someone else check and everything was in correctly, with no fix for the issue. We even reseated the wires in the big opener that the Beam box plugs into. I changed the batteries once before that and the sensor cane right back. Not this time, had to fight for a warranty replacement. After that, it did not fix the issue of the phones not working, and customer support continues to ignore me and will not replace the entire system. DO NOT BUY THIS JUNK!!! Save yourself the money, and buy a new overhead opener, which usually come with WiFi connection like this now a days. If it costs extra, I guess it is so be it, since this thing dies in less than a year.

Installed two of these on my dual garage doors. The installation and setup was very easy and the Beam App works great (with plenty of features). However when integrating with the Alexa app, the use of the smart controller is lacking.Example:- Beam is a separate verb: You need to launch beam or ask alexa to tell beam a command- Having trouble figuring out how to have Alexa treat beam as a first class object (like our lights for example)- Garage names need to be told several times for simple names like (Storage Door, Car Door).All in all this is something that can be improved without any cost to the customer. For now I'm just going to use the Beam App.

So I had high hopes that this would work on my Liftmaster Door opener to turn it into a much more useful device for remotely opening for Amazon delivery and notification should the garage door be left open. The installation was easy enough except that they rely on a web page for the connection of the two wires, this page seems to be missing from the website so that was the first contact with BeamUP Support, although they never explained why the page is missing they did tell which terminals to connect the wires. These wires are what momentarily form a closed circuit to imitate the button push of the wall controller. Unfortunately if your Liftmaster (Chamberlain) has a Purple or Yellow learn button for the remotes, it would seem that this will not work due to the security features of the unit (Rolling Codes). Unfortunately this is not made clear in the BeamUP item page just some vague warning it might not be compatible. Apart from this the connection and set up the App was strait forward the door position sensor worked but I thought that just keeping the unit for this function would a little overpriced! The quality of the two devices seem well made with easy installation and App function, I did become a little concerned with the rate that the battery indicates on door sensors dropped over the six days I had it installed with it going from 100% to 83% capacity, not sure if the discharge rate would have flattened out later but if this kept the same discharge rate you would be replacing the batter every couple of months.

The beamUP garage door operator exceeded my expectations. The installation instructions were easy to follow and the required app is very user friendly. No more guessing whether I closed the garage door. I simply open the app and it gives me the answer in an instant. You can open or close the garage door from anywhere. I was heading home last week and was stopped about 2 miles from home at a red light. Just for kicks I opened the app and swiped upward on the garage door icon to open it. Sure enough, when I arrived about 5 minutes later the door was up. My only regret is I should have bought this device years ago.

Love the BeamUp Smart Garage system. I am always worried, when we leave the house, that I left the garage door open. Now, I no longer have to worry. The app on my phone let's me know if our garage is open or shut. In the event that it is open, I can simply swipe my finger on the app and my garage door will close..no matter where I am at. The system was incredibly easy to install. I think it took my husband all of 5 minutes and it was up and working. I highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a smart garage door system..it is amazing!!! Oh and if you have Amazon Alexa or Google Home, the BeamUp system works with smart home systems too.

After a challenging setup, I finally got it working. Connection between the main controller and the door position sensor wasn't consistent. It finally lost contact with my Wi-Fi network, and I couldn't get it reestablished in spite of several hours of trying. Over all it worked about six months.I'd say if you really want Wi-Fi connection with your garage door opening, get a Chamberlain. I also have a Chamberlain, and no problems with it whatsoever. Plus you don't have to buy extra sensors for the Chamberlain. The add-on sensor for the Beam costs $100. Never again.
