Very Happy with this machine
3/3/2014. Update: One issue has come up that is worth mentioning. First of all, I would like to give credit where credit is due and say again that the machine seems to be well made and really quite sturdy. This is all good. The one issue is that the collapsible paddles do not seem to want to stay on the spindles during the mixing cycle. I have had them come off several times during the same mixing cycle in fact. If one comes off, it can jam with the other paddle and scratch the pan, which has happened in my case. The paddles do slide off the spindles quite easily. My solution at this point, and it is not a very good one, is to add a sliver of toothpick beside the spindle when I slide on the paddle. This seems to work, but this is an engineering issue that could be improved. Other than this, the machine works well and seems solid. I would still recommend buying this machine.I have also modified my recipe below to only include 1 1/4 teaspoons of yeast instead of 2. I find that 2 teaspoons may cause the dough to rise too much and then sometimes collapse somewhat. Trial and error.1/6/2014. "Santa" brought this machine this past Christmas and so far I have been very happy this machine. It arrived in perfect condition, with all accessories, including the two collapsible paddles as well as the two upright paddles. I had an older Breadman for literally the last 17 years that saw fairly frequent use and was still working, although the pan had begun leaking, so I thought it was time to upgrade to a new machine and put this one on my Christmas wish list :). My previous Breadman had worked for a long time so despite some negative reviews for this machine, I decided to stay with the Breadman brand and give this machine a try and I can say that I am very happy so far.I have made several types of bread and the only quibble I have is that when I have raisins in the fruit and nut dispenser, they do not seem to want to drop into the bread pan. This is likely due to raisins being inherently slightly sticky as well as the dispenser opens to about a 45 degree angle, something that could be made to open a little steeper, but I now simply add the raisins with the rest of the ingredients at the beginning. Problem solved.I have found this machine to be very substantially quieter than my previous bread machine, which was a pleasant surprise. Also, the texture of the breads also seem to be substantially improved, another pleasant surprise. The time for a finished loaf is slightly longer than the previous machine but I have found that this is no problem. I have not tried the quick bake cycle yet. Again, I am very happy with this machine. it looks good and works great. I would also say that it appears to be quite well made. Everything fits tight, in particular the pans, so I do not see that this as being a problem in the future. the paddles seem to fold down for me, which seems to be an issue with some reviewers, so that is also good news. I also like the versatility of being able to bake two different loaves of bread in the smaller pans. And they are not that small. One additional note on the recipes. If you are trying to bake plain white bread or a light white and whole wheat mixture, say, 2/3 white flour and 1/3 whole wheat, the recipe calls for 4 cups of flour. I find the I only need 2 and 1/4 to 2 and 1/2 cups of flour in the large pan and that is plenty. Any more than this and you will have your bread pan overflowing, guaranteed. Here is a quick foolproof recipe for white or light whole wheat. I use slightly more than one cup of water warmed in a pan, add 3/4 tsp of salt, 1 and 1/2 tablespoon of butter and 2 tablespoon of brown sugar. Heat the water enough to melt the butter while stirring the mixture. Pour this into the large bread pan. Add 2 and 1/4 cups of white bread flour to the bread pan, (or substitute 3/4 cup of whole wheat flour), add 1 1/4 full tsp of quick rise yeast and set your machine settings to the lightest crust and smallest loaf size and press start (or your timer) and you are done. You might need to add a tiny amount of additional flour or water to get a good dough texture, which should be just moist enough to be slightly sticky to your touch but still be dry enough that it remains in a dough ball. This is very simple and works every time. You can also add raisins or cinnamon (1 tablespoon) to this for added flavors. So in short, I can highly recommend this bread machine. It looks good and works great. Very happy. And I will update later.

DO NOT PURCHASE!!! BAIT & SWITCH
I Just spoke with APC, the warranty company and was told that the model that they replaced my broken machine with is their top of the line machine and is more expensive than the original model and has more features. Anyone that is capable of reading can compare the two models and know that there is no way that the replacement model is the better, more improved and more expensive model. The warranty person also told me that Amazon sells used models, not new. On the breadman website, the replacement model sells for $129.99, even at that price, there is still a difference in price of $70.00. This replacement model only has one bread pan, not the option of two 1-lb. loaves and the actual bread pan is shaped differently than the one that I purchase originally. The loaves are too big to fit in sandwich bags, they will only fit in quart size bags or larger. The purpose for my original purchase was to make sandwich bread for my kids lunches as a healthier option to store bought bread, well I guess they'll be getting supersized sandwiches now. This company practices bait and switch, I would not advise purchasing from them, this should be illegal.February 15, 2012You can read my original review below. I was pleased with the quality of the bread that this machine produced. However, the machine only lasted 4 months. I made bread once per week, so it did not get a lot of wear and tear.Unfortunately, when the paddles decided to quit it was beyond the replacement period for Amazon so I had to work with the manufacturer to resolve the issue. After placing a call to Breadman's warranty dept. (APC), I was told that this machine is no longer in production, so the replacement would be a different machine that had similar functionality and comparable in price. After cutting the cord and paying the S&H, I received the replacement machine. Where do I begin......1. The replacement machine is model BK1060S ($88.99 on Amazon). I paid $199.99 for the original machine that broke. That is a difference of $111.00.2. The replacement machine is not new, it is refurbished and has a few rust marks on it. So not only was my replacement $111.00 cheaper than my original purchase, it isn't even worth the $88.99 that it's being sold for "new" on Amazon.3. I called Amazon customer service to let them know that they have a product that is being sold on their website that is no longer in production and replacements to customers are of a cheaper model with less features. Hopefully, Amazon will do the right thing and take this machine off of their site, so no other customers will get ripped off like me.I regret my decision to purchase from this company, they have unscrupulous practices. I hope that others will look at this warning and choose to purchase a different brand.BUYER BEWARE!!!*****Original Review*****I have never written a review, but felt that this breadmaker deserved a 5 star rating. I received my Breadman BK2000B yesterday and made my first loaf last night. I made a classic white loaf of bread and cut the white flour by a third and used whole wheat flour in its place. My loaf of bread came out beautiful! The crust was a beautiful golden color, had a great texture and the taste was phenomenal!I just returned a Panasonic SD-YD250 because it stopped working after 3 weeks of use. With the Panasonic, I was still trying to figure out how to get a nice loaf of bread. The crust on the bread that was made in the Panasonic was always hard, thick and slightly burnt on the bottom, no matter what color setting you set the machine on. The bread was also very heavy and not very palatable, I thought it was something I was doing wrong and just needed to tweak my recipe, but after making one loaf of bread in the Breadman BK2000B, I realized that it was not my recipe but was the Panasonic.I hope this machine is built to last because if it keeps putting out loaves of bread like the one last night, it will be getting plenty of use in my home!*****UPDATE*****I'm still loving it!!!! This breadmaker is amazing. I haven't had a bad loaf yet. I think this breadmaker is underlooked for more popular brands and many may be missing out!I have made an average of 3 loaves of bread per week since I received it, and each loaf has been delicious. The loaves are shaped like the loaves of bread from the market and work great for making sandwiches for the kids for lunch and making toast. The breadmaker is very easy to clean, compared to the Panasonic, which mixes the ingredients so harshly that flour and dough are thrown outside the loaf pan and burned onto the heating elements. I haven't had anything thrown out of the loaf pan with the Breadman, no cleaning of the heating unit has been necessary and a quick soak of the loaf pan/wipe out and we're all set to go.If this breadmaker continues performing as well as it has, this may be one of my best purchases from Amazon. The paddles have remained in the loaf pan and not in the bread*****UPDATE***** February 2012I'm sorry to report that my breadmaker has gone the way of so many others that have reviewed this machine. One paddle stopped working and the other paddle began making a loud noise. Of course this took place after I was past the point of returning it to Amazon. I called the manufacturer and was asked to cut the cord off of the machine and return it to their warranty dept., along with $7.50 for shipping and the breadmaker would be replaced with a comparable model.I was told that this machine is no longer in production (which with the level of complaints for the same issue, it should be taken out of production), however I was not able to be told what it would be replaced with. It is scheduled to be delivered tomorrow, so hopefully the replacement is truly of comparable value and functionality, considering that this machine cost $200.00. I have looked in vain on Amazon and their website and thus far have not been able to find a comparable machine that is made by them.I will update upon it's arrival and first loaf.

Great product so far.
After using it for two weeks so far so good. Nothing is falling off, nothing broken nor any oil residue, funny smell or excessive noise. This brand as had it's fair chare of problems so hopefully it will perform as described for the long run. If they are still in business they must be doing something right ! The nuts & Fruits dispenser is a great add on although for more moist items like raisins it does need a little help to push them down as they tend to stick. Otherwise all good.
