Best $20 mod you can get
***UPDATE*** 3/19/18 2 years in and still flawless operation!***ORIGINAL*** Fun and inexpensive mod is to install a backup sensor. I got the above and have had it installed (easy) for several days now. I like it. It is not factory quality but it is pretty darn nice and the best part is it works well*!After installing and (gulp) drilling holes in my bumper cover (and of course, 1 hole is a tad lower than the one next to it...yes, I measured and marked but obviously incorrectly) and committing myself to the project, whenever I put it in reverse it beeped. Couldn't figure out what the problem was. Figured it out today, the 2 center sensors are too close to the ground. If I turn the actual sensor itself, it still beeps because it (the bumper cover) is curved and the sensors pick it (the curve of the bumper cover) up.The sensors themselves are held in the hole by friction rubber pieces. To mount permanently will require some type of adhesive. I will adhesive mine when I decide on what to use. Probably some silicon. As of right now it seems I have messed with them enough (once inserted, I twist/turn them a hair to 'lock' them in even though there is no 'locking' going on at all.) that they are staying in pretty well.Since I have removed the 2 sensors that are (I think) mounted too low from the system (just unplugged them), the two outer most sensors are working VERY well. I really couldn't be more pleased with the system. The camera takes care of the center anyway, the outer two are to help detect what the camera doesn't see/show on those corners. As such, the system works brilliantly. I really recommend this inexpensive mod. Just use more care than I did, on your sensor placement locations and where you drill. The problem is the steel bumper itself is right there behind the cover and it makes it challenging.I mounted the module via 2 way tape to the rear 'firewall' (for lack of a better term) and ran all wires thru a rubber plug in the spare tire well. Same one I used to pull the power/video cable thru from the camera. The speaker I mounted in the rear right cubby by the hatch. Popped a 3/8 hole, shaved the corners of the speaker plug so it fit, and fed the wire behind the panel and to the module. The 'speaker' (really a piezo buzzer) has a 3 position switch that has OFF, LOW and HIGH volume functions. The switch is not labeled. High isn't much more than Low...The one thing I would like, would be a louder beep.It doesn't look too shabby, either.

A very simple and very usefull easy to install unstall device.
Like some of the other users of this, I wanted something simple to mimic a factory parking sensor in late model cars. BMW calls it the PDC or Parking Dynamic Control which was around in 2002. My 2006 Lexus RX 350 does not have it and I don't think it was even an option at the time. Working on cars is second nature to me so I may have an advantage when I installed this.I found this kit to be very easy to install, they even supply a hole saw bit with a pilot bit installed in the bit. Before you drill check the locations to be sure you miss or are above the bumper metal reinforcement. Drilling into that would be a bit of pain. The sensors may be shallow enough depth to miss it but its just something you don't want to mess with. Mark the drill spots with a marker on a masking taped bumper. DRILL THE STARTER HOLES WITH A SMALLER BIT THAN SUPPLIED. It will save you from a miss-drilled starter hole with a bit sliding and marring your paint. Also space the sensors out with even space between them. I could have moved the two center ones closer together by 4 inches total (2 inches each) but its still fine as the angle the sensor beam still overlaps. It done not look odd or anything. I ran all the wire hidden within the car pulling back interior trim pieces so nothing shows, which is the beauty of this kit.In a trunk application you would not have to do that but just run the speaking in to the interior. In the Lexus the back up lights are located on the tail gate lift. The sensors are power simply by splicing into the back up tail lights. If you dont know which is hot just splice and experiment. If you don't get it right it will not work. Also if you connect up the sensor wrong you will not short anything out. I had to run up the inside and down to completely hide the wire. This required me to spice in about 2 foot of extra wire but it was easy to cut and solder the extra piece. All in all it's a great little modification. Saves me from having to get out and look when I want to get close to a wall or other car or in a parking stall cramped downtown parking stall. Its especially nice in the Lexus RX because the back window is curved which makes objects look way closer than they are. When It looks like I'm right on top of something I am actually 2 or 3 foot away. Now I know when I am a foot of the object. Also, if some one walks behind you while the car in reverse that triggers the beeps as well. The beeps are proximity locaters beeping quick at 3 feet, slow at 2 feet and solid tone at 1 foot. Everyone I show this to thinks its factory set up. The sensors are gloss black the size of a dime. I am going to get some dealer touch up spray paint for my car and carefully mask each sensor and give it a little spray or may just leave it. On dark color cars the black will blend in fine.

certainly better than all the scratches on the fenders
I was tired of backing my '09 Murano into things I couldn't see. I had installed a backup camera but that wasn't enough. I wanted something that would yell at me when I was about to hit something while backing up so I bought this kit and had it professionally installed at a cost of $100. My first test was backing up toward a 5" diameter concrete post that was behind the corner of the car, not in my range of vision. The instructions say it might not detect small round objects but it began sounding a warning at about 3 ft. I don't find the small black sensors objectionable, certainly better than all the scratches on the fenders. So far, I'm pleased, just what I wanted.

Works great so far
Works great. I've installed many parking sensors and I really like this one.Others I've installed had a voice which said "3 meters", 2 meters", 1 meter", "stop, stop, stop".I'm in America, I would prefer US measurements. This unit has no voice, just beeping which I prefer. It works great so far.
