An excellent monitor albeit with some flaws
It's an excellent monitor. Having used SMALLHD and Feelworld monitors before, I can say that this does not disappoint at all. Excellent image, Industry standard SDI +HDMI inputs (if you go for the SDI variant) and good LUT support with that 1000 nit brightness is an excellent package. The HLG , PQ options also let you see your image in HDR glory in the screen and that REALLY helps you nail down your highlights and shadow details when shooting. A blown out image in SDR LUT suddenly comes to life in HDR with a lot more details visible. The LUTs are accurate and scale nicely. Innumerable focus peaking options, waveform, false colour are all just wonderful aids to use while shooting. The cons though - I don't know if its just my piece, but god oh god does it get hot! Especially if you're outdoors / 100% brightness or in HDR mode. It just gets incredibly hot to the touch. I've sent my unit back to CDM in Delhi for a second opinion and they came back saying it wasn't an issue and it's fine. But I really doubt the longevity of the display if it constantly runs so hot to the touch. I also often see battery not lasting as long as ATOMOS says it should. Might be a side effect of this extreme heat. The display comes pre calibrated but for further calibration down the line you need their own Atomos proprietary serial cable which costs another 9000 rupees and an X-Rite I1 Display pro which is another 20000.The build quality isn't that great either. It's good and light which is great for pairing with mirrorless / DSLRs but doesn't feel strong and sturdy. I've invested in a SMALLRIG AtomX cage to shroud the monitor and give it more mounting points and that gives it the required heft. The menu system is meh. SmallHD does have a better UI than this for sure. Could definitely work on improving that.

Great if you know your usage!
It’s an amazing monitor if your role is behind the camera as with most of the cameras it disables the autofocus function and on camera screen. I bought it for shooting self and use it as a reference monitor during wide shots. But because of the above mentioned problem, it’s of not much use. Though I still use it for my B rolls.

Bright, Lightweight, and and loaded with features
Everything in this monitor just works. The on screen display is packed with features and buttons, but understanding them is incredibly simple. Was a pro at using the interface in less than ten minutes.

Bright, sharp monitor with typical Atomos tools
I already own the Ninja V and needed a 2nd monitor so I stayed with Atomos to keep the user interfaces mostly the same. Happily, the image is just as good as the Ninja V. It does not come with the NPF to 5.5x2.1mm adapter which comes with the Ninja V, so I purchased one from B&H.It's plasticky, but this is a positive for me because it's light - keeping my gimbal rig lighter than when I was using the Ninja V. It takes less power to run than the Ninja V also.I'd love to pay less, and I certainly could have, but for reasons mentioned, this was the right choice for me. I could get away with 2 Shinobi monitors as I rarely use the recording feature of the Ninja V now that I'm using two BMPCC4K cameras.

Not Useful Camera Monitor
I use a BMPCC4K with a shoulder rigConnection Issues (★☆☆☆☆):The first problem I encountered was the incredibly loose connection. It seemed like I had to fiddle with the cables constantly to get a stable signal. This was beyond frustrating and made it nearly unusable.SD Card (★☆☆☆☆):Another major letdown was the inability to read an SD card. I tried multiple cards, but it just wouldn't recognize any of them.Unreliable Power (★☆☆☆☆):Turning it on became a hassle as well. I had to power it on multiple times before it would actually work.Build Quality (★☆☆☆☆):The fastening nut was difficult to work with, and what's worse, I noticed pre-existing scratches on the monitor. It's disappointing.Pros (★★☆☆☆):On a slightly positive note, the monitor is lightweight, making it easy to carry. When it did work, the display quality was decent, offering clear visuals.

Super moniteur
Top !
