Is this blender commercial grade?

Define "Commercial Grade" - I assume you mean Vitamix or Blendtec? This machine is well made and the materials are of high quality, but it's designed for home use. A Vitamix can cost 3x as much though I doubt it will last 3x as long - plus it seems to shed PTFE seal material into your food (worth Googling). The Blendtec is also expensive at 2x-4x the price, depending on the model. No blender lasts forever and the aforementioned Vitamix / Blendtec are not free from issues. Try this blender out. It has a metal coupling gear (not plastic, which normally breaks) and a strong motor. There's a soft start feature, the body is wrapped in stainless steel and the plastic jugs are some of the thickest plastic I've seen on a blender. It has very good reviews and for around $200 it fits nicely between cheap poorly made blenders and the crazy priced "Commercial" machines.

Speed 7-10 the same? I got my blender today and I couldn't really tell a difference between the speeds 7 and 10. Similar for you guys?

Mine doesn't change after speed 8, that is normal I think.

BPA-free Triton jar. It's a very slick and dense material. I clean it blending it for a few seconds with water and a drop of soap. It is almost non-stick. I can blend soybeans in it and they don't stick, so it is unusually easy to clean. I have only cleaned the quiet shield a few times because I don't over-fill. Today I did over-fill a steamed kale and apple juice smoothie for breakfast but it was so easy to clean up. Compared with the Ninja, this is SO much easier to take care of! I love the shield. We were using major ear protection with our Ninja. This machine is great for one or two people. One concern I have is that it was vibrating today, I had to hold it down.

I'm confused on is this purchase is just the quiet shield or both the blender and the shield?

Carlety,The blender includes the quiet shield in the package along with both jars. I usually don't bother with the shield unless I have guests in the kitchen when I'm blending drinks or treats. With the shield conversations can be maintained without shouting and it is much quieter than without.It is another part to clean, store and deal with when being used. Not a hardship but why I don't use it all the time.I hope this is helpful.
