Legnoart Ghemme Grand Crue Sommelier Corkscrew, Deer Horn Handle

I ordered this corkscrew as a gift for my husband after doing a ton of research, because he asked for a really nice corkscrew for Christmas and I wanted to get him something both attractive and functional. He appreciates beautiful objects that are also useful. People raved about this model of corkscrew, with varying handle finishes, so I thought this was a sure bet. It arrived today and was such a disappointment! I am guessing this was returned by someone else, because the paper Legnoart-stamped wrapping around the wooden box was torn. Maybe the seller simply repacked it and sent it out hoping I would not notice that the buffalo horn on one side of the handle is coming apart from the metal, and there is glue or some kind of substance stuck in the crevices of the engraving along the top. I can't give this to my husband. I'm going to have to rush out and find another Christmas gift for him tomorrow (Christmas Eve) to replace it. I was so excited about getting him this corkscrew - it feels nice and weighty in the hand, as people said, and I've read very positive comments about it here and elsewhere, but this is the most disappointing purchase I have made in a long, long time. What a piece of crap. Shame on whoever let this leave the warehouse. Terrible craftsmanship - I won't be ordering another Legnoart item again.
