The Four Last Things: Death, Judgment, Hell, Heaven

Will scare the devil out of you... literally.
Although composed centuries ago, the message is as timeless as eternity. For those modern-day Christians/Catholics who expect religion to make them feel all warm & fuzzy, this may be hard to stomach.Listen to the average homily/sermon and no mention of the devil, hell, or other “unpleasantries” will be heard. The majority of those in the pews these days want to leave church smiling, in a happy, positive mood... not fearing for their very souls.Pastors that solely take this approach may find more contributions in the passed-baskets, but they’re doing their congregations a huge disservice... perhaps even a mortal one!Read this book carefully... it may be a “downer” by 21st century standards, but heed its admonitions and you’ll have all of eternity to rejoice and feel good. Thanks for reading,-CC, Amazon Prime Member-Reviewer

I am 69 years old and have read many hundreds ...
I am 69 years old and have read many hundreds of books during my lifetime. None of them has impacted me to the degree that The Four Last Things has. Seldom, if ever, have I read a book more than once. I am now on my third reading of The Four Last Things. This book will never be placed in my bookshelf to gather dust. It will be on my coffee table or side table for the duration. This is a book that I will read over and over again for the remainder of my life.

Great content, good printing. A bargain for an excellent book that more should be reading
This book is out of print and I had a hard time looking for it. This version is good, it was printed well. Paper is white and ink is dark. Makes for comfortable reading. The words are not a mere scan of older texts. They had been retyped and it is clean and crisp. The layout had also been designed in such a way that when you hold the book by the spine, it doesn't cover any words. The content is good, from a learned author on a topic the modern Church shuns away. It is a reminder, and admonishment that we need to take our salvation and our soul more seriously, and the consequences could be really dire. This book should not have been allowed to go out of print. Many today need to read it. This publication is one of the best you can get it in today. And at this price, honestly it is a steal.

Hell NO!
If you read this book, you won't want to continue a life not worry of all God wants for you. Judgement will be tough enough for ALL of us, but Hell is not where you will want to wind up. From Scripture and visions of the Saints, what Hell is really like is spelled out in detail. No one ever thinks they are going there, but Scripture say that many are called and few are chosen. Most churches avoid the Hell subject, but the true church is not avoiding it. Are YOU in the right church? A must read for ALL.

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom
In these days when false teachers say there is no hell, and that most people, even those without faith, go to heaven, this book is an excellent reminder of the true and unchanging Catholic teaching. Emphasizing “God loves you,” with little attention paid to, “If you love me, keep my commandments,” does no one any favors. A true understanding of the realities of Death, Judgement, Hell, and Heaven may cause fear and trembling, but that can only help us. This book does an excellent job teaching those truths.“With him that feareth the Lord, it shall go well in the latter end, and in the day of his death he shall be blessed.” Sirach 1:13“For there shall be a time, when they will not endure sound doctrine; but, according to their own desires, they will heap to themselves teachers: And will indeed turn away their hearing from the truth, but will be turned unto fables.” 2 Tim 4:3-4

No mercy in this book
Not at all what Divine Mercy promises. Not for one minute do I believe that Christ wishes us to suffer unimaginable terror and torture at the time of our death, when our soul leaves our body. I don’t know where all the 5 star reviews come from. This book was written in the 1600s. If your looking for the truth, read St Faustina’s “Divine Mercy”

A Must Read
Truly, one of the best books I’ve ever read on the Four Last Things. Makes one think very deeply on their final destination and the way to get to Heaven and avoid Hell. Hell is unfathomable and you do not want to go there, nor do you want anyone else to go there either! This book will literally scare the Hell out of you! Please read. You will not be disappointed! May literally be the most important book you will ever read.

Very Powerful
Not a pro book reviewer but this is a powerful book. It would probably make most priests shaky. Don't read this before trying to relax or going to sleep. If you're a Christian let alone Catholic and after reading this book you don't want to crazy glue your halo to your head, you're braver than I. Good luck!

Going up or going down? Not sure? Read this!
The Four Last Things aren't a very popular topic anymore amongst Catholics. Sadly the disease of secular humanism has infiltrated the Church and so there is, in fact, a great need to inform Catholics of the eternal realities that every human being will one day have to face. Just not believing in judgement and punishment for evildoing won't make these realities disappear; we know from the testimony of St. Faustina's diary that many people are damned who did not believe in hell and being eternally lost without any hope of reprieve. It is salutary to meditate on what Martin Von Cochem teaches here so clearly, the dogma of the Holy Catholic Church. It's not a very big book, but it is a very thought provoking read which every Catholic would benefit from examining.

A MUST READ!
very profound book on Hell, in simple words:an eye opener! The author approaches subject of God from a little bit different view:God as a Justice rather than a Mercy.Of course we know that He is all Mercy and Love, but the author remind us that God is also Just which means that our sins small or big will be judged and scrutinised regardless of God's love for us.Descriptions and explanations are many times scary to read, however ,rather than be fearful it forces the reader to think seriously about our temporary earthly lives, values and principles according to which each of us lives, and eternity ,either in Heaven or...Hell.Descriptions of times before coming of Jesus Christ, descriptions of Hell, its occupants and what is going on with damned souls, also descriptions and explanations of Paradise and what we can do to achieve that.Really, very helpful little book. The print is rather small, and the chapters are very informative, concise and rather short. The book I would recommend to everyone to read.

Must Have If You're Truly Serious About Life
This book talks about some extremely important things that have largely been pushed aside by many in the Church nowadays. It talks about subjects in which many do not want to think about, but these things have a huge impact on peoples' souls. Those who want to take their faith and life seriously must obtain a copy of this book.
