Very nice to have this security!
Got this for my 89-year-old mother who still lives alone. She loves it, finds it easy to use and keep handy. The only really, really, really irritating thing is that when she is talking on the phone, the speaker constantly reminds her -loudly- that the phone is not available for emergency calling!!! She called the company and they said that's the way it works, sorry. This is very irritating, but overall the system works great. We LIKE being able to set it up to call me first, then 911. She feels better about that too.

I bought this thing and half the time the pendant ...
I bought this thing and half the time the pendant doesn't work. most of the time it can't understand that I'm hitting buttons in the setup mode whether I'm using the home phone or remoting in. I don't know if it's working half the time and my father depends on it. I can't get hold of a customer service person. I'm fairly tech savvy generally. I don't know if I received a defective one, but this thing is not working right. I put off writing this review thinking maybe one day I'll figure it out and get the hang of it. I've had it for nearly a year and most of the time, it's been not operative.

It works! Much less expensive than other devices. A solid product!
ProsIt works and blows away the competition for price. It gives us all security in that if something where to happen, even the flu, it is easily accessible. It could be used as another reviewer mentioned to make a one button phone call - like a bedside bell only better. The customer service of the company is excellent. The pendant didn't work when we got this device and they instantly sent out a new one.It is very nice that it will call a bunch of numbers (one at a time) until it reaches someone (including 911 but it will call that last if it doesn't reach someone).Cons (all not too irksome - but worth knowing about)The voice that speaks when you set up the clock and numbers is very very loud. We all shrink away from it.The setup is more difficult if you only have old fashioned corded phones. I thought the machine was broken because I couldn't set it up via the attached handset. Customer service explained that if I had a cordless phone base unit plugged into the life link prodigy I could use my telephone handset, but the unit pulls too much power from a corded phone? I had to set it up remotely with my cell phone. If you don't do the test call and maybe we didn't set the clock either when we first got it, you might (like us) receive a test call at 3 am and think your mom or dad has an emergency. Worse yet, the person who has the device in their room will be woken to a very loud siren! I also have a 3 month reminder to make a test call, because it scares me, if I don't remember it's probably a test call. They are only required every 3 months. As someone else mentioned, the device doesn't like long phone conversations. After a while the booming voice reminds you to hang up the phone. However it doesn't say a word if another phone is off the hook even. It's only the phone attached to the device that has this problem. I now just turn off the power if I'm using that particular phone, but I often forget to turn it back on.

no technical support contact info
I had to replace my old lifelink prodigy which I loved and it worked well because it was acting up and I could not get in contact with the company for any assistance. The new one will only let me put one contact # in, even though the instructions state I could put up to 8 contact #. I have looked everywhere but cannot seem to find any contact info at all. I feel like a bought a product that once was great but now has slipped to not willing even give a contact info. I rate my second lifelink as a poor product.

Prodigy LifeLink is the gold standard in medical alert systems
I purchased the Prodigy LifeLink to replace a Telemergency which I could not program because I had lost its manual. The LifeLink was very easy to set up and functions beautifully. It's range covers my entire house and the lights on the panel signal when the battery is low or a phone in the house is off the hook. One of the most significant features in my view is that when it goes through the list of contacts and none of them respond, it automatically defaults to dialing 911. Also, if the user wants to dial 911 directly, he or she only needs to press the emergency button on the pendant three times and that will be done. The manual is excellent and it sets up quickly. This medical alert system really offers the user a sense of security and certainty.
