Great product
I've used this device for several years to control a HVAC system in another state. I recently installed three units in my primary residence as well. There was a unit sold by a Home Depot as a Filtrete 3M50 but is no longer being sold. The CT50 is identical to the 3M50 and works the same. As long as your internet connection is reliable, communication with your thermostat is easy. If the internet fails at the device location the system continues to operate according to the mode you last set. In cases you can optionally elect to have an email notification if the unit goes offline for any reason.Adjusting operations is as easy as using the free app on your smartphone. I use iOS to initially setup my units now because it's easier and simpler than using my pc. Just go to settings > WIFI, and look for your thermostat's ssid and select it. If your device keeps returning to your normal "auto connect" ssid, tell your device to "forget this network" and re-select the thermostat's ssid and continue the setup. Remember to point Safari to 192.168.10.1 and follow the prompts to connect your thermostat to your network.Sometimes the WIFI setup can be a bit difficult, but I think it depends on your WIFI signal strength and local interference. The last one I installed was up and working in less than 10 minutes after connecting the wiring and mounting on the wall. I now have four units in operation with location management made easy using a desktop to access "The Cloud" to set schedules, location, names, and the optional Radius feature that compares your energy usage within a self-determined radius of the unit's location. The technical support group is great. They respond quickly to emails (sometimes within minutes) and are very good. There are also several videos on the web to assist with installation and setup.I really love the features and the ease of operation of the CT50. I would purchase this product again and I highly recommend it.

Good device , but VERY hard to get working and zero support.
This is an update. Do not buy as they have since sent me an email stating they are dropping support for the WiFi connected control effective May 2023. What good is it without that? Up until this time it was great, but now clearly a mistake for buying it.First I would like to say I already had two of these and like both the app and the device once you get it working, but if this would have been my first one I would have set it back. Seems the documentation needs to updated very badly. Nothing on the support site works even for the IOS. I ended up spending hours to get it provisioned and then registered. I actually need two devices the iPhone to connect the device to my network then a windows 10 with a VPN to register the device to my account. The iPhone app would not connect it to the network you have to use the process in the documentation to get that done manually. Once that was done the app would still not let me resister the device to my account. I had to log on using a windows pc to be able to see the icon that lets you register the device and receive the authorization code needed. Works great now., but be ready to get you tech skills out to complete the install. BTW for starters the url they give to to start on the read me first card goes to a dead link! Also the support number give just sends you to a voicemail and nobody calls you back. Multiple emails and over 24 hours latter also no response.Net be prepared to go it alone with lots of trial and error to complete.

The best networked thermostat because no app or cloud account is required
I've been using this for 5 years with great results. It's the only networked thermostat I've found that you can control with a computer's command line interface using a REST API.You don't need a dumb smartphone app or an insecure cloud account to operate it. I use Linux's generic cron scheduling feature to set a heating schedule. I can also change the temperature easily anytime using my ipad or phone with the ish terminal application.I regret that they don't seem to make these anymore. The only other option is to build a custom tstat with a Raspberry Pi (or similar). The wifi connectivity has worked great for me. I wish I'd bought more of these.

DO NOT BUY...WIFI SUPPORT HAS BEEN DISCONTINUED
I've wanted a wifi thermostat for years but I didn't want anything that *required* it to talk to cloud in order for me to operate it when I am only local network. This product allows that kind of operation. You can of course set it up to operate in the cloud if you want but I didn't do that.Setting it up was a bit bizarre. I was only able to use my wife's iphone to talk to it. Neither my Android phone or Windows or Mac computers would talk to it. It works a bit strangely in that it initially creates ITS OWN wifi hotspot to which you have to connect and obtain the necessary codes and setup information. Once you do, you disconnect from it and reconnect to your home's wifi and complete the steps there.Once connected, its worked great. I've been using it for several months. The interface (which does work on my Android phone) to set on/off for weekdays and weekends is simple. Sometimes when I change temp, there is a 5 min delay from my request and when it finally takes effect.UPDATE December 21, 2022...DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. I JUST GOT AN EMAIL SAYING THEY ARE DROPPING SUPPORT FOR THE WIFI APP THAT ENABLES YOU TO CONTROL THE DEVICE FROM WIFI. THERE GOES $65 I WONT GET BACK AND I HAVE HAD THE DEVICE FOR LESS THAN A YEAR.
