Nice Weatherproof Replacement Speakers
I purchased this to restore two Projected Sound drive in movie theater speakers. They look like exact drop in replacements except for the weatherproof Mylar cones. This is a plus in my opinion given that I intend these for outdoor use. The originals had (coated?) paper cones that had long outlived their usefulness. In terms of sound quality, it’s what one would expect from a speaker this size… good mid to high frequencies, thin on the lower frequencies (bass). I am old enough to remember going to Drive In movie theaters. I fondly remember hearing Nancy Sinatra singing her hit single, “These Boots Aren’t Made For Walking” back in the day while we waited for the movie to start. Fast forward to today and played that song as a listening test… Nancy never sounded better compared to the crappy sound that I remember in my youth. Everyone who has heard these speakers is impressed by the sound. From my perspective, they sound fine for what they are, but thin in the lower frequencies. So don’t expect Hip Hop music or any other music with a lot of bass to sound great and also, turned up… the sound produced by these will definitely not rattle the windows.Philmore is a well established company from at least the 1940s. They are respected for producing quality electronic products for hobbyists and enthusiasts.

Let’s Groove at the Drive-in!
The media could not be loaded. First impressions are good. This is not designed to be an amazing speaker so I can't give it 5 stars. Placed in old Drive-in movie speakers they work really well.

Seems well built, worked at a straight drop in replacement
Got this to wire directly into an arcade game setup where two wires come directly off of the main board edge connector. I replaced the quick disconnects to a size that would match the tabs on this speaker and it worked directly as-is without requiring an amp. The speaker is actually slightly larger than I had hoped for but it works and I will build it into a small enclosure to keep the magnet away from important parts like the monitor.

Used in NuTone intercom system
Replaced a non-working speaker in an outdoor patio NuTone intercom station. The station is mounted to the siding and is directly exposed to the elements with no protection at all (not the best installation spot, but I didn't put it in). So replaced the dry-rotted and crumbling speaker with this one (old speaker was 8 ohm, 4 watt so figured this should work). Wired it up and cranked up the music on the master station. Went outside and turned the volume all the way up on the patio station and heard those sweet, sweet tunes emanating forth. Oh, happy day. Not loud enough to annoy the neighbors (which is unfortunate since they have a teenage girl who has pool parties with lots of boys and they play music loud enough to annoy me), but I can hear it just fine when I'm outside on the deck or in my own pool.

Perfect Fit. Weak Sound.
I bought this to replace a speaker in a nearly 50 year old GE radio... It was the cheapest option I could find that was an exact fit/spec replacement. And it did fit wonderfully. Unfortunately the sound quality is lacking. No I did not expect hifi sound from a 4" mono speaker-- and its not terrible, I'd say a bit below average... but compared to the original 45 year old paper speaker (I have two radios to test) the new speaker sounds muddy and not much for highs/lows. Not a big deal as I use it mostly for AM or talk radio... but still a bit disappointing. I do like that its mylar though because I'll keep it in the garage where it can get humid. In the end I'm satisfied though as this did not cost much and I did not have to modify the radio.

Did the job for the price
Just needed a test speaker with this Ohm rating for an old car radio I was testing in a mock up situation. The speaker worked, which was the needed threshold. Quality was acceptable. I gave it a 3 star on sound quality but perhaps if it said "Sound for Money", I'd have given it a 4.5.
