Impressed to say the least
Excellent value for money, the rod is very light and the quality is very impressive. I usually buy Hardy, Sage, Orvis but this time I wanted something a little less expensive. Obviously, the quality of this piece is not up to the renowned makes, but its not far off! Excellent whip finish and colour, very light, excellent action, yet to be tested in anger, will let you know, Cork handle again excellent, I've seen worse on well known rods. Would I stop buying Hardy etc. NO. but for for the money you can't complain. Rod tube and bag well made and of good quality.Update: took it fishing yesterday tamed some very energetic fish on 10lb line. rod pulled round under the boat, I've every confidence in the rod. Casts well on W7 line could, take higher I think.PS checked my Orvis rod (made in China), so buy with confidence.

Lovely light and powerful
After reading the reviews on this rod I was sceptical but decided to give it a try and I used it yesterday for the first time.. wow this 10ft #7 casts like a dream put a line into the wind no problem at all and is sensitive enough to feel the slightest of takes its very lite and the quality is excellent I normally fish with a greys gr70 comp and a vision stillmaniac both over double the price of this rod and this rod is up there, a good fast action rod at this price .. bargain .. how long it will last ...we'll find out.

An absolute bargain that will not disappoint you.
I bought a 10' 7 wt to replace an Orvis rod (a 9' 6" 7 wt) I managed to leave behind on a visit to Bewel Water. The rod came directly from China via air freight and was very well packaged. Delivery was about a week. From a construction point of view I can't find anything to fault with the Maxcatch rod - nothing at all. The rod is remarkably light and even at 10' the rod feels comfortable and well balanced in the hand. It feels a touch stiffer than the Orvis it replaces, although the flex feels fine and it powers up with absolutely no effort. If you are looking for distance, this is the weapon you'll want. The rod should have been delivered in a carbon tube, but came in a perfectly serviceable Cordura item. A note inside apologised for the carbon tube not being in stock and promising it would follow in due course. A 7 wt wt/f line was included as 'compensation' for my inconvenience. I am 100% certain the tube will arrive in due course, which leaves me with a very nice Cordura tube for my Greys rod (similar to and as good as Orvis provides with its rods), a spare line and an absolutely splendid rod. You'll no doubt have to settle for just the rod if you follow my path, however the rod alone is an absolute bargain that will not disappoint you.

Superb rod up their with the best
I purchased a Maxcatch sky high 9ft 7wt rod and a matching reel with an outbound 7wt line this was going to be a spare setup if my £1k rod a reel combo got damaged. What can I say its suburb and actually feels better to cast than my existing gear ! The line feels silky smooth and sits really straight on water, the reel is a perfect weight to balance the rod. The machining on the reel is lovely and the drag is really smooth. Playing fish on the combo was a dream lots of feedback and with the fighting butt large trout did put too much pressure on my wrist. I had read the reviews and was sceptical of the cheap prices but the quality and performance and way way above the price bracket.

Nice tip flex fast rod, let down by too much cork filler
This is a nice rod, but it’s no bargain Sage, Scott or Winston. The cork handle is full of filler, not what I would call premium AAA+. The reel seat is a nice design and the rest of the rod is nicely made, but the cork filler drags the quality down. The action is very much fast, principally tip flex, but it is easy to get out the whole line with two or three casts. If you want a slower action rod, look elsewhere. The thread on cap on the rod tube is pretty badly made, and is gritty to screw into the rod tube, but the rest of carbon rod tube itself is nice. You get what you pay for, and this is a £150 rod, plain and simple. Pay more for better cork and fancy brand marketing, but it won’t catch you any more fish

For the money it’s perfect fly rod, 5 *****
The fly rod was delivered to me today which was much quicker than I thought it would be. Now to the rod, the rod for the money it cost me is quite incredible, the quality is amazing the finish is stunning. Now that I have this standard of fly rod, I’m going to buy more of these to replace my other older fly rods, it’s quite incredible, 5 *****

As good as it gets
As well finished as my Orvis Helios costing £1000 and fishes casts just as well seriously question apart from 25 or lifetime warranty why I would ever go Sage or Orvis again. This is like the Skoda is in the car World often snubbed owing to brand name when it really deserves a fair try you won't be disappointed
