TiVo C00221 Replacement Remote

Not only does this work great, it has a lot more tools and buttons than the remote that came with my original Tivo HD.For those of you considering switching to Comcast's DVR options instead Tivo, DON'T. This is a perfect example of a small private company that came up with a brilliant idea, and a massive, greedy corporation trying to steal it. Don't let them do it!!! More and more great products are not being invented because huge corporations find ways to either pay very little, or steal the idea completely.I won one of the first 200 Tivo's that were ever invented by writing an essay. I told them I wanted a Tivo because I wanted to watch what I want, when I want, without the cable company telling me when, and then watching their endless commercials. Over the years, Comcast has been trying everything it can think of to shut them down. They refused to provide M-Card's until the FCC said they had to. After that, they would lie to customers ad said there were none in stock. When they got busted again, they forced customers to go pick them up. And every step of the way they would go on and on about why a Tivo DVR is better.I'll save some time. IT IS NOT. It has none of the options like Wishlist, Music and other tools. It forces you to buy movies and a bunch of other nonsense. It's not enough that they force you to buy cable if you only want Internet. It's not enough that they force you to buy packages when you want one channel, they force you to buy 20 you don't. They fight to make sure you have no choice but to buy what they want when they want for how much they want.Tivo is one of the rare examples where they were not able to crush the competition. Make sure people in your life know that.

I actually think I like this replacement remote better than the one that came with our Tivo XL DVR Box (looks exactly the same except has a silver band around it). Something about the functionality of the remote that came in the box was failing - the DVR had trouble responding to button pushes, and then began to completely ignore the "down arrow" button, so we had to buy this replacement. The "tivo" button is not as raised, and you kind of need a fingernail to press it down because it sinks into the remote and you might accidentally press other buttons. That is the only problem I have with it. It responds so much better than the other remote, and the buttons seem "softer" or maybe that's just me. Now, it doesn't have the memory feature (hence the slightly cheaper price), but that's okay because I didn't even realize that the other remote did! It doesn't come with instructions, but it doesn't need to because it works right out of the box. Kinda cool. Perfectly good replacement remote if you don't want to shell out moo-la bucks for the keyboard one (for me, that's just overboard and not even necessary)

The electrical contacts of the buttons on our original remote were failing after years of use; we had to occasionally push a button several times to produce the desired action. Ordered this replacement which was received on time. Installed a fresh set of batteries and set up was relatively easy. Using the replacement TiVo remote, you enter one of several listed numbered codes to ensure your replacement TiVo remote control signals are compatible with your brand and model TV, and any other A/V equipment you may wish to control (e.g., receiver volume; DVD, etc.). We lucked-out; our code was the second one in the list of about a dozen or more numbered codes. Our LG flat screen TV, Yamaha receiver, and TiVo Premier were up and running using the replacement remote in about 10-15 minutes. The replacement TiVo remote buttons and functions appear to be identical to our original TiVo remote. The buttons on our replacement remote seem to require a bit more force to fully depress, but I suspect they will become easier to press with use/time.

2018.07.9 C00221 Tivo Remote ... We paired this new C00221 Tivo remote to our new Sony TV. The new C00221 will not turn ON TV next day. (This might happen after a few hours) However, our old Tivo remote or the Sony TV remote turns ON TV just fine any time. However, once we turn ON the TV then the new CC00221 turns TV ON/OFF with no problem. The new CC00221 controls the Series 3 Tivo just fine. The CC00221 controls the audio on our Yamaha receiver just fine. It is almost as if the C00221 goes into sleep mode? Makes no sense. We have returned it and are buying another one of the same model as there is not an exchange option.2018.07.24 C00221 Tivo Remote ... UPDATE. We purchased one more of the same model from the same company while simultaneously returning the one that wouldn't work. There is not exchange option. The return replacement arrived in about 2 days. The return replacement connected to the very first Sony TV code that I selected and also it connected to the very first Yamaha receiver code that I selected. What are the odds? So programming went really fast. There is something about the buttons that seem just slightly cheapish, but it isn't enough to be concerned about. We are satisfied.

I know. I know. I'm one of the few people left on earth still using TiVo, but I love it. My original remote stopped working, so I bought this one and all I had to do was put batteries in and it worked right away. No setup needed. Super easy!

We've had our old TiVo Series 3 HD remote for 10 years so it was no surpirse when it finally gave up the ghost after being dropped on the hardwoods repeatedly by two children. It died at 7 a.m.on a Snday morning so I paid the extra rush charge for same-day delivery and had this bad boy fully up and running by 8 pm that night. I was thrilled. Very easy to figure out as long as you are able to see your screen - if your old remote dies while your TV is off, it complicates the startup but it is still doable. The bummer is that I prefer the old button layout - this one has some minor differences and I was just used to the old ones. The arrows to skip backward/forward are just a bit tricky because they are so close to other buttons. Overall, highly recommend.
