I'm looking for both, flat and curved tools sharping stone.** A: Yes, chisel, knifes and anything you can move across the stones. **Q: Can the stones be kept in water ready for use of do they need to dry out?** A: Not sure if your constant exposure approach would be destructive, but they seem to be solid as apprised an extruded slurry. What I'm doing is soak both for 15-30 minute and leave 1000 grit stone in while working with the 400 grit. Then swapping out the stones in the bath bucket to work with the 1000 grid. Good luck! **Q: Can you sharpen flat edged 1 inch 1/2 inch etc chisels or is this kit just for curved chisels? thanks** A: I sent mine back because none of the curved profiles of the stone matched any of the curved chisels I had, so it was worthless to me. If I remember correctly, you could hone flat on the other side, but overall it seems like a rather low quality stone. I’ve never seen a sharpening stone that is “pebbley”. **Q: can these be used to sharpen flexcut tools ?** A: I would think so. If you can sharpen them on regular stones I would think these would work.
