Product Care Instructions | Keep plants well-watered during the growing season, especially during dry spells. Plants need about 1-2 inches of rain per week during the growing season. Use a rain gauge to check to see if you need to add water. It's best to water with a drip or trickle system that delivers water at low pressure at the soil level. If you water with overhead sprinklers, water early in the day so the foliage has time to dry off before evening, to minimize disease problems. Keep the soil moist but not saturated. |

High quality seeds with a high germination rate.
These BURPEE-Sugar Snap Pea seeds are dry and ready to plant from a well- sealed package, and I started 64 peas in growing containers with grow lights on them and 100% of them germinated. When the plants reached 6 inches tall, I moved them out to high trellises with netting on them and all of the plants have survived for two weeks and one frosty morning. Healthy plants that will probably reach their highest vine lengths and produce big time quantities of Pea pods. Very happy with Burpee seeds and will order other seeds soon. Great find!

Don't plant more than one per space.
Every single seed propagated. Why plant two when 1 will do? Seriously, you'll spend more time trying to determine which sprout is stronger, and they're both neck and neck. Can't wait to taste.

Excellent germination rates
Almost all seeds germinated, they've sprouted and look great. Every seed bag I've gotten from Burpee so far have had excellent germination rates. For those struggling I always damp a paper towel and place the towel in a plastic container with lid or plastic zip bag and then put seeds in there. Keep them in a temp around 70-75 out of direct light and depending on the seed species 24 hours to a few days they should germinate. Then take them out and put them in soil when you see their roots sticking out. Get soil damp, walk away

Our Sugar Snap Pea's have not grown - BUT Burpee responded so quickly!!!Thank you Burpee!
Update:I received a detailed email from Burpee which was wonderful providing details regarding germination and how the heat can really affect the growth!. While we're disappointed not to be eating those sugar pea's right now - we sure appreciate their swift response and advice! We'll plant burbee sugar pea's in the Spring!Great Customer Service - THANK YOUWe planted Burbee Sugar Snap Pea's in the Spring (April) and enjoyed them so much we thought we'd plant fall snap pea's and did so on 7/21/24, but nothing has sprouted! I don't know why, we toss our coffee grounds on them like we did the first ones in the spring, they are in a raised bed and get automatically watered every morning with the rest of the veggies.... We're disappointed not to get to harvest fall pea's!!!

I found them apPEASing
All of the peas germinated. I like to keep staggering them by a few weeks so there's peas all year (except winter). As the plants get 1-2ft tall I'll start more in pots to plant after these are done (or leave in pots). There's nothing fresher tasting than a handful of fresh pea pods picked off the plants for dinner.Let's break some pea stigmas: They'll grow in a window box or pot or virtually anywhere. They'll grow in full or partial sun. They'll grow in hot or cool weather. You can crowd them in a window box, just part them away from each other as they grow to avoid mildew issues. I've had over 50 plants in a 3 foot by 6" wide by 6" deep box. Many things can be grown almost anywhere and you don't need a garden or massive space. Peas dont need much attention and they're relatively forgiving. Plant them, keep them damp until they sprout, water after soil drys. They're hardier than they're typically given credit for.Don't mind the tales and give it a try for yourself. You can do it.Thanks for attending my TED talk.Update: added pics. The pea garden is inside of a small roll of chicken wire formed into a 4 foot (or so) spiral. I could've crowded them out a little more cos they really don't mind. Seedlings in planter are the next crop. I plan to stagger crops until first frost and then try in a window sill in winter and will update again then.

Arrived promptly
Value, I planted they grew well at first, but sun got to them and lack of water. Will try again next season.

VERY low germination rate!
I have been growing sweet peas for a number of years. I was not at all happy with the germination rate of these seeds. I had less than 10% germination. Because there were so few seeds in the packet, I also planted seeds I had left over from years past at the same time and the germination on those seeds were close to 100% so I know it wasn’t the planting method.
