I'm extremely pleased with this filter cartridge. I purchased it to replace a more expensive KDF and carbon filter cartridge that I would have been stuck buying one every 6 months. I researched many cartridges and found that I liked this one the best, and it turned out that this filter fit the housing (standard 10" water filter housing) and I am enjoying the same benefits of pure, refreshing, clean and chlorine free drinking water out of the tap of our kitchen faucet.Highly recommend this filter to combat chlorine in the city water. I have a Culligan HF-360A Whole House Filter Housing system, a reliable system, but I was struggling to find a filter cartridge that lived up to its potential. I had used every filter Culligan manufactured, but the troublesome water smell persisted. I was beginning to lose hope, but then I found the Premier KDF 55 + Coconut Shell Carbon Filter Cartridge.It was like a breath of fresh air—or, more accurately, a breath of fresh water. Using as a whole house filter after a salt based water conditioner to "polish" the water after (most of) the iron is removed from my well water. The setup / filter housing I have is likely too small for a whole house - it only holds the 2.5" x 10" filter I'm reviewing but I probably should have a bigger filter to handle the whole house - but this small filter is still doing a great job none the less. Seller is great - quick to answer questions with detailed answers. After speaking with them, next time I'll try their KDF 85 filter which is apparently even better for iron.

I was interested in getting a new filter for my countertop unit that uses standard 2.5x10" filters. Looking around, the filters with KDF55 or KDF85 and GAC material caught my attention. Previously I had used only carbon block filters so saw this companies product, with made/assembled in USA note, and decided to try it. I ordered in two of the KDF55 with GAC filters. The order arrived on time; but when I opened the package I saw there wasn't any KDF55 material (it's obvious as KDF55 media is copper color) as shown in the photo. There were also some stray filter media inside the plastic bag around each filter. An inspection of the filters didn't show any damage so wasn't clear if may have come out during shipping or was residue from when assembled and packed. There was a very pleasant note added to the invoice that identified who to contact if there was a problem with the order.I took a photo of the two filters and sent an email to Jotan at Oceanic Water Systems asking for help correcting the problem. Next day I had a reply with a mailing label to ship the filters back via USPS. Jotan's response was very apologetic and identified they would investigate and correct their error. I packaged the filters up, printed and attached the mailing label and dropped off at post office.About 3 days later had the correct filters. No stray filter media found this time. I was ready to install; but noted these filters aren't the typical sediment or carbon types that install either way and was confused about their installation. Another email to Jotan and he provided a picture with a polite explanation of the correct installation. Please note these filters install in one direction only; the white plastic cap (with the sealing washer) goes up against the filter head as water from the housing (part you remove) flows into opposite end of the filter. Typically sediment/carbon filters have seals at both ends and fit either direction just fine.Another benefit I found when checking the Oceanic website is they offer the various filter media to rebuild these type of filters as the white cap is removable, media is dumped out, new media installed, new gasket added and filter re-installed. Nice! Plus saw they offer the various media in reasonable sizes for their customers. So, you can build a filter pretty much how you want it.So, while I did have minor problem with the order (4.5 out 5 stars would be more accurate) I had the chance to communicate with Oceanic and it's easy now to see why they've been in business a while; good products, fair prices, free shipping, and excellent customer service. I'll definitely look to Oceanic for new filters or media to rebuild these.

I purchased one of these Premier KDF 55 + Coconut Shell Carbon filters 2 years. KDF/GAC filters are what I recommend to my customers to go with our water structuring units.I put the filter under the sink, with a 1 gpm special faucet for filtered water on the sink. This filter worked for 2 years, taking out heavy metals and chlorine. A few weeks ago I noticed a slight chlorine taste and knew it was time to replace the filter. Filter is now replaced, and once again we have safe, great tasting drinking water!
