Find a branch from the Tree of Life in the Bonds of the Wild Hero and Monster Collection! Twenty-two plastic figures previously only available in the first edition of Descent are reimagined with new figure sculpts and artwork. You can work magic alongside the heroes Lyssa and Challara, rely on your familiars like Vyrah the Falconer and Ronan of the Wild, or fight for the overlord with kobolds, hellhounds, and deep elves. In addition to these figures, you'll find two brand-new quests chronicling your quest for the healing power of the Tree of Life.

the Monster and Hero packs are my least favorite as the price you pay for them does not ...
Descent: Journeys in the Dark 2nd Edition has an incredible amount of expansions that add to the game. Lieutenant packs where you get the figurine for the bosses of each board game expansion and base game and additional overlord cards, board game expansions that add new classes, monsters and bosses, board pieces and campaigns, & finally the Hero & Monster packs which this one is.Of the the expansions, the Monster and Hero packs are my least favorite as the price you pay for them does not match what you get when compared to the other expansions. For example, Monster and Hero packs will give you 3-4 new Hero figurines with character sheets, but no class cards/abilities for them, 2-3 new monsters to add to the Overlord arsenal, and one single quest which can be added as a rumor quest in your campaign. That's it. These expansions will cost you $26 - $35.Now compare that to a board game expansion where you get new heroes with class cards/abilities, new monsters, board game pieces, new conditions, more overlord cards and a quest booklet to serve as a mini campaign or add quests to your base game campaign and you end up paying about the same price.I feel these should be, for what they offer, no more than $20.00, $17-$20 would be reasonable. That being said, this expansion of the Hero and Monster packs is pretty cool. The heroes you get are rogue and mage class. 3 of the 4 you get are ones that come with pets as character feature rather than a class feature.

Some very interesting additions
Three of the heroes have familiars as their heroic ability which we haven't seen yet in second editions and all four of the heroes appear to be pretty significant game changers with Lyssa's increased damage potential and getting to trade up in die when you're adjacent to a monster. The monsters are going to change pace a little themselves with the deep elves being the first small monster with this much power. They each take up one space and still there is only two of them. This seems well justified by their health, speed, and static pierce abilities. The hounds break some new ground as well with a possibility of four of them on the map and a master with fire breath. And the kobolds. . . swarms of kobolds. Hide the masters behind a big old golem and just slow the heroes right down with your hordes of minions. Racing to an objective is a pretty consistent game dynamic and a few extra turns of the heroes being forced to wade through these little guys will definitely give the overlord the upper hand.

Great game
As all the other expansions came with hero’s, monsters, and quest sheet. Great game people are still making content for this.

Nice set of fantasy-based figures
This pack contains a set of heroes and monsters for use in the Descent 2nd Edition board game. It also includes the rules for using these new figures and all of the necessary cards and data, as well as new quests. The figures can be used in any fantasy-based tabletop games. The miniatures are of very high quality and they look great painted up in a display cabinet too!

Great expansion
I like to play with the heroes that have familiars, in this one we get 3 of those plus a ton of new monsters. Good expansion for an already excellent game.

Great minis and a nice addition to the game
The miniatures in this set are great. The heroes are highly detailed. You get 2 Runemaster/ Necromancer heroes and 2 Thief/ Wildlander heroes. 3 of the heroes come with familiars (tokens) that can spice up the play dynamics a bit. You also get 3 monster groups. I found the Deep Elves most interesting and you get 2 of those; a master and a minion. The Kobolds have a swarm ability and count on their numbers in combat. A great addition to your game of Descent.
