This item is easy to use right out of the box. On high it won't make it 24 hours it will need to be filled again. I have a very small home under 1000 sq feet and use this for the whole home, set in the center area. It does stop 'working' when the water depletes, although it does stay on, there is not shut off for that, just no fan running.
