R2-D2: The pluckiest droid ever...
Did I really buy this Star Wars R2-D2 w/Booster Rockets as an adult, and for myself? Yes, I did.I actually bought a few of them, the first for my son who was about five at the time, then one for myself, simply because it was so cool. My son absconded with it when he lost his, so I had to get yet another. Who says that kids are the only ones who get to have all of the fun? I checked the date on this one, and as it turns out, it was ordered in March 2001... so how's that for durability?Mine was actually bought as a desktop "toy" in an IT geek environment, and as a Project Mangler (read that carefully), it served me quite well. The company that I worked for is long gone now, but R2-D2 remains on the bookshelf above my computer desk, right next to the Yoda action figure that I had ordered before getting R2-D2. They both came with the CommTech Chip gadget that worked with the optional CommTech Reader, but I never bought that reader as they were supposedly unreliable; R2-D2 and Yoda were inspiration enough."R2-D2, you know better than to trust a strange computer."~ C-3PO, in Star Wars, Episode V: The Empire Strikes BackFor those who have worked around computer geeks in an IT (Information Technology) environment, then you know that items such as the Doctor Who Tardis USB Hub or the Flingshot Slingshot Flying Screaming Monkey have a habit of proliferating workspaces and cubicles. Some of these gadgets make noise, some move around, some shoot harmless foam pellets, and some like R2-D2 just sit there, inviting comments or even the envy of those who weren't the first to get one.As a tribute to our cultural fascination with these characters from the Star Wars series, there's a Star Wars R2-D2 Silver Anniversary Action Figure that's 3.75 inches tall, and it's a real collectible icon for the true Star Wars aficionado. Personally though, I'll stick with my loyal R2-D2, which outlasted the company that I worked for by a good number of years."Truly wonderful the mind of a child is."~ Jedi Master Yoda, in Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the ClonesAs noted earlier, who says that kids are the only ones who get to have all of the fun?7/23/2012

R2-D2
This R2-D2 figure is very good. For his commtech chip you have to have the commtech reader which people have for sale on here and is usually at a decent price. But the figure itself is a perfectly fine TOY. It is a basic R2 figure with the three legged mode. For the power of the force era it's without a doubt the best looking one. It has booster rockets from a deleted scene for the Phantom Menace. They weren't able to realize this until they were able to do R2 as a digital character in Attack of the Clones. It's a one of a kind R2 figure that was never rereleased. Definitly recommended for little kids as young as 4 who really like R2-D2.

Great gift
Nice robot for Star Wars fans, however it requires an additional reader for the chip.

Star Wars Rockets
I absolutely love the "critters" from Star Wars, with R2-D2 being my favorite, followed by C3PO, then Chewie. I have this "toy" at work and have had much fun with it. You much purchase the CommTech devise to really enjoy it. It's great!!!
