Outstanding book. A must for the history of New Mexico.

I liked the historic perspective of this branch of the Denver and Rio Grande Railroad and collection of photos. The directions to track the old line on today's roads is a bonus. And last but not least the stories of the colorful characters of the railroad add a human touch to the story of a railroad.

This book has fascinating history, maps, and directions to find still visible traces of the Chile Line between Antonito and Santa Fe. The author has clear performed thorough research.The book was almost exactly what I hoped for. Almost only because I would like to know more about how the railroad was salvaged after its abandonment, a niche interest if ever there was one.

Got this for my late summer reading in Colorado! Visiting a family member who is a fellow steam RR enthusiast ... looks like we’ll have lots to talk about ! Plan to hunt down some interesting sections of the Chili line! Great little book!

A delightful addition to Northern NM lore. I enjoyed the book and pics in general. The detail on the Otowai freight station filled in some blanks that are quite personal to me. I have traveled between Durango and Santa Fe for many years and will do so again in '21. This book proves there are always new things to be known.Kudos to the author

This book covers both the historical narrative of the Rio Grande narrow-gauge Chili Line to Santa Fe and the present-day views and information on the route and towns the railroad traversed. It also provides you with personal glimpse of the people who lived and worked along the line until its abandonment in 1941.

This book was a delightful quick read. Anyone who is interested in the history of railroads is sure to enjoy. I loved the local (to me) history as well. Ordering three more for family.

This volume will serve as a tour book if one desires to trace the remnants of this unique piece of railroad history
