So I waited until my dog was basically finished with the bone (and by finished I mean too small for her to have any longer) before I wrote a review. My first experience with Buck bones was amazing. I purchased a large, split bone and my dog loved the hell out of it and it actually lasted about three months. The large was about 7 inches long, and 3 inches wide which was perfect because I have a big dog. So when I went to purchase it again I went for a whole bone, and to my dismay I was unable to find a large whole bone that wasn't split. I opted for the medium because I figured it couldn't have been that small...but I was wrong. When I received the bone I actually went online to double check that I did in fact order a medium (even the packaging said medium) because I got a bone that was roughly 3 inches long and an inch wide. I gave it to my dog anyway just to see how long it would last her, and while she did enjoy it I had to take it away from her because once she got halfway through it it became a choking hazard. So my suggestion is if you have a larger breed, stick to the large, split bone.

My dog screamed bloody murder like he'd hurt himself and when I frantically ran to the living room expecting a pool of blood, he was just crying because he scooted it under the couch and couldn't reach it so yeah...I'd say it's a fine product.

My dog lives to chew - so much so that he chews these bones to the sharpest edges and cut his mouth up. We are moving on to othe bones that will better withstand his desire to gnaw (golden lab - 56 lbs). My daughter got one for her Chinook - who ended up breaking a tooth! I think this are good bones for certain dogs, but not all dogs.

UPDATE - Based on our experience, we emailed Buck Bone and received a response the next day. They sent out a replacement antler at no charge. We have since received that antler which appears to be of a higher quality (like what we had expected) since it has not worn away so quickly (as the first one did). We have upgraded our review based on the high level of customer service received and the fact that they replaced the product and we are pleased with the replacement.Original Review - We received the antler (large whole antler) today and gave it to our dog around 5:30pm. These photos were taken at 8:30pm. This $25 antler deteriorated so quickly that we had to take it away only 3 hours after we opened it. The only reason I gave it one star is because our dog really seemed to enjoy it during the 3 hours that it lasted. As for me, I’m thoroughly disappointed after paying $25 and waiting 3 days for delivery. Will definitely not be purchasing again.

My dogs absolutely love these!! And my chihuahua eats through every single toy/ "long-lasting" chew bone I've given him. But these last forever for him; he's been working on it for months! And animal-friendly (they only use shed antlers according to the packaging). Higher price, but they're worth it!

Perfect! The whole chew lasts way longer for our German Shepherd. The 3/4" diameter is critical feature for our dog. She loves to hold it and scrape the marrow out from the ends. There’s barely a dent, and she’s chewed on it about 30 minutes a day for the last week. (The “half” version she had carved out in 2 days.) I had some concern that the brown color might come off on our beige carpet, but it’s a very clean bone. I’ll definitely be ordering more of these!Update: It lasted 6 months before it got down to 3 inches, and she couldn't easily hold it anymore. Happy to order another one and gift the remnant to a smaller dog.

My dog loves it! I would take it away and give it to them during selected times (this goes for any toy). If we leave it out she becomes disinterested but if we only give it to her a couple hours a day that's ALL she does, chew.It also lasts a mega long time and doesn't leave any weird residue or crumbs. It literally just slowly disintegrates. I would recommend this for dogs who love to chew. I've bought toys for $10 that she destroys within 2 weeks. We're approaching 2 months with this antler and it's still got a lot of life left in it.

We were looking for something that our lab would not chew down too quickly so would last longer than a day. This seemed promising to start with, but it began to smell bad very quickly (within 3 days), and after about 30 minutes of chewing we started to see bloody gums, so we took it off her, put it in a bag in the fridge, and then gave it to her again the next day. Again, after about 30 minutes she was done. After a few days of this, it started smelling really bad, like rotten meat, so we just threw it away. Too expensive for it to last only 3 days!

MY Deerhound 6 month old puppy and HUGE …. was given this yesterday. He has fallen completely out of love with me, and spent 2 hours yesterday, holding this wondrous item … gnawing at it, grinding his teeth against it, and taking it into his crate/cosy nook .. where he has been snoozing with his head resting on it … at which point I removed it gently for tomorrow's 2 hour trip to heaven!!This is a magnificent item, obviously clean, authentic, a natural way for a large dog to soothe those teeth that are trying to get through, and it kept him occupied and very diligently so extraordinarily well. I was recommended this and am so happy I went for it. I shall definitely order another onre of the same size ..which was LARGE. I must mention how amazing this company were when I mis ordered first time round, and got a small antler chew… I returned it and they could'y haver been more helpful, and refunded me within hours of my posting it back ..and have sent me intelligent communications … THIS is the sort of Company that I like to deal with … great honest products, which are what they say they are…and no problems. This chew is perfect for my dalmatian puppy that keeps testing everything with its razor-sharp teeth. It is "just about the right size", too. After three weeks of intensive play my spotted boy hasn't managed to destroy it - despite everyone's predictions he would chew right through it within hours. Although I haven't had to unpack the spare one just yet (seeing the original one is quite a keeper), I hope this product will be available again, becouse it is very likely we will eventually need yet another one.I can highly recommend this elk antler bone to any four-legged chewer out there.

This is by far the best chew we have bought for our Daschund. Theres not many things that are Daschund proof! Much better than hide or compressed hide or fake twigs with impregnated wood odour which tended to get demolished in a day or two, or large bits would come of and cause a choking hazard. The antler is good quality provides plenty of interest. They are a little more expensive but well worth it.

I bought these for my my 4 month old Frenchies who go crazy over them. I chose the whole pieces as this would help them rotate to strengthen jaws. After 1 week they are only now starting to get to some of the bone marrow. The pointed antlers are not great for puppies hence 4 star. They do not smell which is great!
