Love this film, getting ready for the third

Sadly, we never made it to the cinema to see the Sonic the Hedhog movie with the kids, due to lockdown and Covid-19. As avid cinema goers, it's something we've missed out alot on under the current situation.Anyway, as an alternative we've tried to create a cinema experience for the kids with big screen, crisps, popcorn, etc.I must say, even though I was just 'putting this on for the kids' I found myself chuckling and even laughing out loud at many of the scenes very early on. So much so I sat down with them to watch it. Kids will always love the super fast blue Hedgehog. Adults of a certain age will identify with much of the detail and back story that tie the movie into the original Sega game of the 80s.Jim Carrey is excellent as Doctor Robotnix and plays the cartoon baddie in his own inimitable style. In my opinion he steals the show, and is back on form, and the movie romps along in what is a close adaption of the game, but fleshed out a bit, otherwise there would be not much of a story, just a game. What I liked most, without giving too much away is that the movie has been left open to a degree, with the option of a sequel being hinted at, in quite a big way. Was the movie good enough to warrant a sequel? I would definitely say so. In fact the snippet at the end left me genuinely delighted and wanting more. Yes the movie WAS that good! Maybe I even enjoyed it more than my kids! Highly recommended as a fun afternoon or evening movie event for ALL the family. Good clean fun! Buy it! 5*

The action/comedy movie is adapted from the video game franchise that has been popular forsome time.Actually bought this for my young grandchildren who play Sonic on their Amazon-Kids-FireTablets.Sonic is an extraterrestrial with special powers which on his planet is sought by the evil Echidnasclose to being caught his guardian Longclaw gives Sonic a bag of rings that can create a portalto other planets, well, the extra-fast Blue Hedgehog (voiced by Ben Schwartz) ends up on PlanetEarth where he'll have to keep himself and his powers secret....not likely.He creates a pad for himself just outside the small town of Green Hills, Montana...life feels good,but lonely.He kinda attaches himself to a local family secretly and without their knowledge Tom (James Marsden)the local Sheriff and his wife Maddie (Tika Sumter) a veterinarian ...Sonic is desperate to make friends butknows he shouldn't.One evening feeling so very lonely he plays baseball all by himself able to move so fast he can coverseveral positions at much the same time, however, because he's running at supersonic speed he accidentallycauses an electrical short, all the lights go out.The event is picked-up by authorities who need to investigate the incident, but, are prevented from doingso by the American Department of Defence who enlist the help of Robotics Scientist Dr Robotnik (Jim Carey)an eccentric who becomes ever determined to track down Sonic once he identifies him as the cause of theblackout.Sonic found hiding from the Doctor in Tom's house is shot with a tranquiliser by the Sheriff causing him toaccidentally send his bag of rings through a portal to San Francisco,,when he comes round he needs helpfrom Tom to get him to San Francisco to recover his rings, realising Sonic is in danger when the Doctor turnsup at his home, Tom agree's.With the Doctor on his trail it becomes a desperate race, Sonic desperately wanting friendship hopes that Tomwill be that person.Using one of Sonic's quills Dr Robotnik is able to match the extraterrestrials speed, can Sonic escape theclutches of the Doctor and find the warmth of friendship he seeks?A fast-moving and often funny tale that will I suspect be enjoyed by the younger viewers rather than older.There is much in the way of special-effects to enjoy along the way.

Great family movie. My kids begged me to take them to the cinema to watch this, we all enjoyed it. My wife that hate non-Disney "animal" movies watched it with us when we got the DVD. Dispite trying not to she loved it as well. Even managed to pick out a couple of things from the original game.A lot was made of the fact that Saga listened to the fan when the animation of Sonic was not good enough. Big points for them doing that. On top of that almost everything in this movies recognisable to fans of the game.Love him or hate home Jim Carrey plays a perfect eccentric and evil Dr Robotnik. All the other cast play their part really well as well. They come across as funny rather than stupid (does not always happen in family movies).The extras features are also awesome my kids loved them as. As s pre order gift I even got a couple of Sonic digital comic. All in a the complete package. An enjoyable funny movies made yo be enjoyed by fan of all ages. If you are not a fan you will be.

Brilliant movie

The children had seen Sonic 2 but not number 1, so found it on Amazon, it was delivered on time and the children loved the movie.
