Sega Genesis 2 & 3 Standard AV Cable (Bulk Packaging)

So I've been doing some browsing around for a new cable for my Sega Genesis ever since the RF switch got destroyed and I've stumbled across this AV cable.Back when I was young, I never knew the Sega Genesis had an AV cable for it. I've always thought that was a "Nintendo" thing since both the NES and SNES had those types of inputs (although the NES lacked the stereo sound), so I was stuck with the RF switch that comes with the Genesis. Little did I know that the RF switch only produced in mono (or as its said, mono with both speakers), so there was a lot of variations of music and sound effects that I missed out since none of the games went true stereo.I got this cable today and immediately got it hooked up to the living room TV, which is a 42" HDTV. Aside from the noticeable compression of the 480i quality that the Genesis can only produce, it ran just fine without any issues. I even popped in some games that I knew had stereo sounding music and effects (Sonic 3 and the Sega Compilation) and it make me glee with joy to know that every game that I was going to play was going to produce the full stereo sound quality that I missed out when I was young. It also puts me at ease to know that no matter what TV I use (let it be an HDTV or a classic tube TV), it'll work.

while the cables aren't exactly flawless they do work exceptionally well for just having instead of the lesser quality R/F adapter, so for what i paid i am happy with the product, definitely a must buy if you are using the R/F adapter still

Fast delivery, and works as advertised. I first I plugged the cables to the HDTV in my room, and the TV would not produce a picture or sound. I then plugged the cables into the HDTV in my living room, and the picture and sound came out clear. I did a quick Google search on this problem, and it turns out that the Sega Genesis outputted games at 240p, which is half the resolution of the CRT TVs which was 480i/p. The problem is 240p is such a low resolution, that it doesn't register on many HDTVs, which is why the picture and sound won't come through on some HDTVs. A work around is to try using a RF switch or an RCA Composite to HDMI output box to connect your console to an HDTV, if a direct connection between the console and TV doesn't produce any picture and sound. You can also just connect your console to an old school CRT TV.

I ordered one of these AV cables as a way to replace my old rf adapter, and I must say I received it very quickly and it works even better than expected! The image is so much sharper and the sound is very clear.I ordered this product from the seller "PLAYITNOW", and must say I am very satisfied with how quickly it was shipped and am relieved I received this product in such decent quality considering how cheaply made some of these things being sold on here probably are. Don't hesitate to purchase from this seller if you are looking for new AV Cables for your Sega Genesis 2 or 3 system (does NOT work with the Genesis 1 model).

I ordered this item to try to get better picture quality out of my Sega genesis than I could get with the RF adapter, and a composite out seemed like a good Idea. I got it the other day, and tried it out today, and the first thing I notice is that it only has 4 pins. The A/V out on the model 2 genesis has more than that, 7 or 9, I didn't count. Obviously not 4. So I try to plug it in anyway, figuring that it might be some extra pins for the RF box, and the plug is obviously too small. It didn't fit at all. So this product gets 1 star for being completely and utterly useless to me. If it says it works with Genesis model 2 and 3, it should fit, and I shouldn't need to wonder if I'm wasting $5. Buy at your own risk. Perhaps contact the seller before purchase and ask for pictures of the item being sold. If you don't hear back, or if you receive generic stock photos, I'd suggest saving your money and spending it elsewhere.

it works great but the one i got wasnt brand new it still works but it has a short in it so takes some jostling to get it to work right

This was the first purchase I made online, and let me say, I had my doubts. However, I'm glad I made this purchase. The product arrived much earlier than expected. I ordered on the the 1st of September, and it was shipped on September 2nd. The morning of September 4, the product had arrived. Keep in mind I didn't pay for faster shipping, I payed the basic rate and had the cables in my hand a whole week earlier than the expected arrival date.As for the quality of the product, the cables work and the picture and sound is better than the original RF adapter that came with my Genesis. It should be noted that because the Genesis wasn't designed for HD video, when plugged into some HDTVs, there may be lines running through the picture. However they are barely visible, and are present on most AV devices on an HDTV, including the Wii.Overall I am very impressed and know where to go for future classic gaming purchases.
