I had some time off from work and have a TV that only has HDMI, which makes playing all of my older game consoles a bit more challenging. I had planned on getting the Pound adapter since it didn't have a built in HDMI connector. I figured using the HDMI cable that is used for my other consoles would be easier to use than trying to get to the other HDMI ports on the back of the TV. Unfortunately, the Pound adapter wasn't available at the time, so I looked at this one with slight hesitation.It arrived in time, and works as advertised. I have not tried using it without the power adapter, even though they do claim that it often is not necessary. I also did not use the HDMI cable that ships with it. I saw many reviews complain about its quality, and as mentioned above, I already have an HDMI cable plugged in for other consoles that was easier to use.I haven't used this extensively, but it worked flawlessly for me when I used it, and the picture quality is great. I don't have the world's fanciest TV, and also have realistic expectations. The build quality does feel a bit cheap. There isn't much heft to the thing, and it feels like a hollow, cheap adapter, but I'm pretty easy on things, and don't imagine there will be any issues with it.

Plugged it in and we were up and going. Our new TV doesn’t have any inputs other than HDMI which was an issue for all of our older gen consoles like the original Xbox. We plugged this in, and it was detected immediately, allowing us to set widescreen ratios and HD resolutions in the console settings.

This thing is better than I expected it to be, alot of people were saying that cheap cables would cause issue or come up as composite and not component but this cable seems to be component as I can change the video settings (480 and 720 on and off) and is a noticeable better quality than the stock composite cables.

The connection is great, the issue is the HDMI cable that comes with the package is not good so the sound breaks but if you replace it with a good cable it will work great. If the HDMI cable on the box was working correctly then its a 5 star product. If you have any issue just try another hdmi cable and most likely the issues will be resolved. Very happy even with the issue due to the massive resolution increase.

Sound quality and picture quality are TOP tier!! I've never seen her (xbox) look and sound this good! Don't waste your time with others. (I got an AV-to-HDMI adapter the first time and there were visible lines and toned down colors on the screen, not to mention the sound was horrible. I thought it was a huge upgrade from simply AV, so i dealt with it.) I accidentally bought a new one (this exact product) because i forgot i had gotten the cheap one lol. So it all worked out, and i'm excited to play all the old greats, the difference is A+ !!

Well, of course I was skeptical on whether this would work. I'm a gamer of over 35 years. Then I had hopes because this little gadget needs a power source to work. I put in Def Jam FFNY and I'LL BE DAMNED. IT WORKS!!!! Whoever created this product.....THANK YOU SOOOOOOOO VERY MUCH!!! :DWorked better than what I expected.

It is better than what I had but it does not register as component output and therefore I have to use “Stretch” to get the proper aspect ratio. I could not give lower as it is a good picture and better than other options that would cut out while playing. I am using a high end HDMI cable and tried various processes that others found success for. I will keep searching for an option that works but in the mean time, this I will continue using this cable.

I have an old xbox (original style), and we got a new TV that only has HDMI hookups... so I eventually ordered this and handed this box to my 8-year-old. It took the kids a bit to get everything hooked up and working, but I don't think they had any trouble figuring this adapter out. Exactly what I needed and would buy again.
