amazing book
I am not even all the way through this book yet and it has been so helpful. It is chock-full of great instruction. Easy to follow and wonderful teaching. I have purchased tons of photography books and this is one of my favorites by far. I give it an A++. Some people just know how to teach and Allison fits the bill. She covers everything you need to know to take better photos of kids. If you are a fan of white backdrops, she makes it very clear how to get the shot. I have tried for so long to get the look and now i have perfected it with her instruction. Love, love, love this book! At first i thought it was a bit pricey for an ebook, but it is worth every penny.

Great book
I had the privilege to attend a workshop in Phoenix with the Author a few weeks ago so I knew that I would enjoy her book. Allison is a very experienced, knowledgeable, talented photographer. The book is very well made, entertaining and a great source of information about studio and on location lighting. Unlike any other books I read (and I read many), it goes straight to the point and everything is explained very well. Allison also gives tips on how to deal with different type of personalities and ages, which is very helpful. She talks about equipments, what we need for a successful session and more importantly, how to keep it simple.

Buy This Book
This is not your average photography book. I must admit I didn't have high hopes for this book, I am finding I've been shooting and studying for so long now that while I still feel I have much to learn, I don't get a lot from the vast majority of the books I read. This one did NOT disappoint. It's obviously written by a professional, it's easy to read, and it offers a good amount of info that I imagine would be found useful by pros and amateurs alike. If children are your subjects, in the studio or out, I highly recommend this book!

Excellent Book! Missing Appendix
I really enjoyed Allison's book. As a professional photographer myself, I am often disappointed in photography books. Not this time. Allison did a superb job of covering the technical, the creative and the psychological sides of childrens photography. The book did refer to the appendix in several places, but my Kindle download did not include the appendix. I assume that this will be an easy fix.

Wow! This is the lighting guide. Have been looking for! I'm a seasoned food photographer, looking to shoot dogs, cats and food on white backgrounds. The title is misleading, to me, as Allidon give very clear detailed info on creating full length pure white background shots, including and Photoshop tricks you might need. I also bought the hard copy book to give as a gift to a friend! Buy this book if you want to shoot anything on white backgrounds! (or gray or black)

Practical lighting for photographing children in studio and on location.
This book is all about lighting, and would be properly subtitled "lighting techniques for photographing children". It's a good book, with very practical "professional secret" advice and many illustrative examples, counter-examples and diagrams. The only thing I wasnt thrilled about is that almost all of the pictures are subtitled with "70-200mm", but there is a very big difference between 70mm and 200mm!

Awesome Book
This is one of the best photography books I have read. The books starts out explaining that there are many different groups that kids may fall into and what to expect when shooting newborns all the way thru teens. Then Allison explains in detail many different lighting set-ups for shooting in the studio and on location. Finally she takes you through two shoots from start to finish. Allison is an awesome photographer and great writer.

Help for people lighting wriggly little people :D
Exactly what I have been looking for, easy to dip in and out of. Kids in the studio move around a lot and I needed some guidance towards effective lighting as everything else I have read seems to have been about lighting compliant, patient, relatively still subjects. Very simple diagrams, beautiful and clear examples. Now I just have to spend some money on more equipment!
