Wonderfully illustrated with seasonal seafood dishes accompanied by appropriate light-hearted haiku, cheerfully blurring the line between fine art and folk art with a friendly wink, this calendar by the Osaka-born artist Okamoto Hajime probably looks great anywhere but seems particularly to give our kitchen just the right ambiance and flair. The calendar itself notes standard Japanese holidays and the traditional round of variously auspicious days, making these easy to keep track of on the other side of the Pacific. The latest from a series initiated by Okamoto in 2012, with hopefully many more to come!
