Great product-works perfectly!
I got this for my toddler's convertible crib- Delta Springtime. The one that goes with the crib set is "prettier" but it's $65, 12 inches long, has a pointed corner, and can only be positioned by the pillow (or feet). I bought this because it's twice the length, half the price, and goes in the middle of the mattress. It keeps my two year old in bed while he's sleeping and let's him get out by himself when he wakes up. The first few days he was getting out of bed 2-3 hours early, but I'd put him back in and tell him to wait until the sun comes up. About a week later, he figured it out and is back on schedule. My toddler LOVES this thing. He likes to "pretend" to go to sleep, just so he can get in and out by himself. The first night I installed it, he wanted to go to bed three hours early. Installation is a breeze, takes literally minutes, and it's super sturdy. My toddler climbed over it once and it didn't budge. I don't let him get in/out like that, though, because it's "not safe" and the point of the product is so he can get in/out without climbing. Some mornings he's sleeping soundly pushed up against it, or his feet or pushing on it, and it's never moved. We've been using this every night and nap time for a month and the straps haven't come loose at all. The only downfall for me is that when I changed his crib sheets, I always took the whole mattress out because I couldn't reach to tuck in the sheet under the mattress. Now, if I pull the mattress out, the whole rail comes off because the mattress weight isn't holding it down. But I'm not docking a star for that, because I knew that before I purchased it. I just have to learn to make his bed with the mattress in place, now!

Almost an ideal crib rail
There's nothing to installing this rail. All you have to do is position the rail and tighten the straps. It comes completely assembled.Yes, the warnings are on the room-facing side but that's the whole point, *adults* should read it or at least be reminded of their existence every day. Toddlers don't need all those writings on their side, it might even be distracting before going to sleep. Our crib has a wooden base and this rail had no problem fitting. I like the round metal, it keeps things very secure and tight. My 2 and 4,5 yo boys have pulled on it but it didn't budge. I am pleased with the performance so far.I also like the option of raising the rail to the higher slots, which was necessary for us.However, it is a little short, so I deducted a star. It leaves so much space on both sides that sometimes my 2yo son's feet are dangling out. It is very easy for him to get in and out of his crib though, so I won't return it. The full-size bed rails are too big and leave very small space on only one side of a crib, so it would not be ideal for my 2yo.Overall, it is a good quality, easy-to-install rail, and I am happy with it. But I would not recommend this for younger toddlers, or 2+ year old toddlers who are on the small side.

great choice!
This was exactly what we were looking for. My son outgrew his crib at 20 months (kept diving out of his crib onto the floor) and was too immature to stay in his toddler bed throughout the night without rolling off of the mattress. For about 6 months we just lined the floor with pillows, which was fine for a soft landing, but that didnt help him as far as staying warm and comfortable at night (in the middle of the bedroom floor as opposed to in his warm bed). I had searched the local stores but could only find the twin-bed sized rails which are too long for the toddler bed. And, I was getting tired of waking up in the middle of the night to check to see if he was hanging off of his bed or in the middle of the floor --which he usually was. So, I finally found this item online which is perfect for the convertible bed--and not as long as the twin sized rails. I love it because he no longer rolls out of bed and onto the floor. He loves it because it is one more thing that he can use to race his trains and cars along. His (Pali) toddler bed is a little bit closer to the ground than the sample picture (and we dont use a box-spring) but the rail covers the side just the same (with a slight gap at the head and at the foot of the bed) with enough space for him to climb in and out of bed. It is also pretty sturdy--he has been instructed not to jump off of the top or to climb on it but there was a trial period where he did try.

Good for convertible crib
Apparently finding a bed rail for a convertible crib is very difficult. This is the only brand I could find. My first advice would be to buy a convertible bed from a manufacturer that sells its own crib rails, or buy a regular crib and then a toddler bed! I'm happy with this product. When I looked at an online manual, it showed the rail attaching to the mattress, but when I got it, the instruction manual shows to attach it to the crib frame. I like that better, because I can now remove the mattress without removing the rail. I did find one drawback with this product. Our crib mattress fits into the platform frame where it sits down a little. Meaning there's a lip on the frame, so it isn't flat across. Using this product now prevents the mattress from fitting all the way down onto the platform. This was not that much of a problem though, for me. The rail does not leave a lot of room to get in and out if you put it in the center, so I moved it closer to the head to give my daughter more space to scoot out the bottom. I think it's an adequate product if you have a convertible crib from a manufacturer that does not sell crib rails. (Mine is a Delta Jasmine).
