I’m so glad I got this. It works perfectly on shoe straps and small belt holes.

Brilliant! I rarely write reviews. But this is an exception device for my uses on soft leather up to 6 oz. Was not sure a device with a ONE size fits all tapered needle punch, would work this well with a variable hole size rotation disk on the bottom. It works perfectly. And does not require any extraordinary hand strength at all, but I'll make another note about this at the bottom of this review.*** It is particularly good if you need SMALL holes for a watch band or fine threading for your leather. And I assume you can get another disk for larger holes (up to the diameter of the tapered punch needle??) I needed a 1.5 mm hole in my leather and am surprised how well these work and how easy they are to use. The return spring can be removed or replaced easily, and you can fine tune it a bit by "Pre-bending" it. You can also open the "jaws" much, much wider than even the return spring can reach, good for those "fat" parts you may need to maneuver+ pastIt is FAST compared to hammering holes with a hollow punch, and much cleaner to use. Plus, it is so fast and easy to use, you can make a smaller hole on one side of your leather, to locate or experiment, then flip the leather over and make a bigger hole from the opposite direction, or the same side, just by rotating the disk to the next size. I like this tool especially since YOU DON'T HAVE TO SHARPEN IT, like many leather hole punches. I don't have to hit a long hollow spike with a hammer a million times (and miss and hit my hand a half a million times). It is simple and the "chads" of leather are practically non-existant. This is a tapered style hole maker instead of a usually dull circle punch. Notes: If you don't line up the rotator hole disk correctly you can get a shallow or wrong sized hole. The disk has a small "indent" positioner. You will feel a satisfying "punch" when it works right. I wish the handles were just a bit longer for leverage on thicker stock, and if the jaws could be deeper for longer reaches into your leather.

Ok, functionally it worked perfectly and punched the holes in the straps for my girlfriend’s Mary Jane’s perfectly. The alignment of the pin to the hole sizer is spot on and gave me no problems whatsoever- Upon looking at the assembly, it is crooked, but it doesn’t affect the functionality of it

Bought this tool because every time I bought a pair of sandals, or strappy dress shoes, I would have to wait to wear them until I had time to go to the shoe repair guy and get extra holes put in the straps. No more! With this tool, I can do it myself in less than a minute! Punches through cleanly on the first try. And it is easy to align and use- I was concerned at first that I could potentially ruin shoes with mis-aligned holes that break the straps, but that did not happen. I should have bought one of these a long time ago. If you've got narrow feet/ankles and have the same problem with shoe straps, this tool is a must!

I was surprised how well and clean and fast this punch made holes. It works well with thin leathers. I only wish it would make bigger holes but I think the design and method it uses in cutting the holes, limits the size it can physically make. I use it to pre-punch holes for two needle saddle stitching using artificial sinew in light weight leather used in furniture coverings. Only problem I have had (reason for a 4 star, not 5) is a small leaf spring the holds the handles open, has broken after several hundred holes. That has not rendered the punch unusable.. it just a little slower. I think I can easily fabricate a new spring or contact the supplier for a new one. So, overall I am pleased with this punch. I don't know if it is made by the same people that makes the punch for Tandy... but it looks just like theirs and is a lot less expensive.

Worked well for my needs! It was hard to find a leather punch that went down to 1 mm all the other brands seem to only do 2 mm at their smallest. Worked perfectly for 4-6 oz leather.

I had low expectations due to the low price of the punch. I was pleasantly surprised it feels heavy and sturdy in my hand. It works with just one or two punches depending on your material. So far I’ve only used it on a shoe strap. I was pleased the hole matches the holes already in the strap fairly well, especially once it’s buckled. It also has a fairly long space between the hinge and hole so that you can get further into a piece to place a hole. Definitely recommend. Mostly I’ll be using this for leather accessories and the occasional shoe strap extra hole.

High quality, solidly made, does exactly what I need - i.e. punching small rivets in plastic sheet for modelling buildings.

This is perfect for what I needed. I have a push and twist punch, but the holes don't go small enough for some of my projects. This one does!

Good for small holes. The big one are not even. I use it on 1-1,2mm leather.
