About the Author George Gordon Byron was born on 22 January 1788 and inherited the barony in 1798. He gained a reputation for his startling good looks and extravagant behaviour, and on the publication of 'Childe Harold's Pilgrimage' became famous overnight. In 1815 he married Annabella Millbanke, but they were seaprated after a year. The rumoured relationship with his half-sister Augusta lead him to leave England in 1816. He eventually settled in Italy and supported Italian revolutionary movements, and in 1823 left to fight for Greek independence. He contracted fever and died in 1824. T.G. Great Poem
Lord Byron is something else. This is a superbly crafted poem of great mastery. And it is devastatingly funny throughout. Highly recommended,

Warning!!!! Please read this warning. Not complete version!!!!!
Warning !!!!!! Please read this warning. I bought this book for my girlfriend who has a Masters in Literature. She loves Don Juan. This is not the full book. This starts with cantos vii which is about half way through the story. I read all the reviews about how wonderful the story is and that may be true but this is only the second half. I don't understand why they don't say that in the description. For all the five star reviews, you know this is only half the story right? Amazon was great and I returned this book with no problems but still it was very disappointing.

BOOK AWESOME; KINDLE EDITION OK
Don juan itself is an awesome book: 5 stars. It is a wonderful experience to read: funny, creative, imaginative, scandalous witty, etc. I liked it much more than other of Byron's works. I thought it was (ideologically and morally) a mind opening experience. The kindle edition, to which I give 3 stars, maybe 4, is very readable format wise but does not provide the notes as links nor numbers them which one would expect or even demand from an electronic edition; rather, one must manually go to the end of the book (which would work in a physical edition) and look up the information one needs, something impossible to do while trying to read the work.

The best edition
Well formatted, without the traditional typographical errors that haunt most versions, and with all the notes essential to understanding how brilliant Byron was. He's smarter than you or me, and better-read.If you can't afford this, try a free copy, discover how good Don Juan is, and you'll find you can afford this.

Although I love the poem, this copy is only volume II
I love Don Juan passionately and it's one of my favorite things in literature -- it's so witty and perfect. However, nothing in the copy or marketing materials explained that this particular hardcover edition by "Don Juan and The Booksellers" is only cantos 7 to 17. So, having bought it as a present for someone, I'm stuck trying to figure out how to find only Vol 1, or buy another copy. Don't be fooled!
