dimmer than regular, Amazon doesn't warn you about dimmer long life bulbs!
If they last 26 times longer, then maybe they're worth the trouble, but for sure they're a bit dimmer than the other 120 watt regular bulbs we left in our ceiling. And another supplier has this warning, wish Amazon included it!Long life incandescent light bulbs use a thicker filament than standard light bulbs. A thicker filament burns longer and is substantially less susceptible to power spikes (the cause of most incandescent light bulb failures). However, the thicker the filament the less light will be produced. You can expect less light output from long life incandescent bulbs compared to standard incandescents.Major benefit is the brass stem on these, it threads into the lamp housing much much smoother! Ever have one of these babies snap off while threading it?I think we'll keep'em, but they better live up to the durability promise.

Indoor Flood Light !
Not sure who came up with this new type of bulb, but it does not produce the same light as the old type. Like going around in the dark is what is in the future, max 150 watts is really about 80 watts and costs twice the price ! Carl Welty

65-Watts They Ain't
There are advertised as having something like 10-times the life of a normal bulb, and are priced accordingly. I replaced all the bulbs in our kitchen because it has 9+ foot ceilings and replacement can be a bit of a pain. When I installed these bulbs, they transformed our kitchen -- normally brightly lit by eight 65-Watt bulbs -- into a dimly lit cellar. Because the return period had passed, I decided to use them in our basement, where the lighting is not so critical. An expensive mistake.

Good bulbs
I purchased these for some light fixtures hanging from a high ceiling in my church. They are just slightly less bright than similar wattage standard bulbs, typical for long life bulbs. The bulbs were all individually wrapped in bubble plastic and arrived in great shape.

Cheap and not as bright as the Sylvania bulbs they ...
Cheap and not as bright as the Sylvania bulbs they were meant to replace, even though they expressed the same voltage and wattage.

No longer reliable
I have purchased these bulbs direct from the manufacturer for 15 years but they no longer last. The most recent BR-40 lasted one year in a limited use basement application. The claim is 20,000 hours, that's over three years of constant use. The last bulb I installed lasted less than one year! Don't waste your money.
