Maui Jim Men's and Women's Makaha Polarized Rimless Reading Sunglasses

This is actually a tale of two reviews, the glasses and distributor.First the glasses. These are excellent. I love the optics and the bi-focal cheater function to allow for reading. I'm on the road almost daily and rely heavily on my GPS (my phone - which sits low on the center console). Without the bi-focal lenses, I have to put my regular glasses over my sun glasses. It works but is a pain. With these glasses, I can easily see my GPS.I huge negative for these glasses, as has been reported in many reviews, is that the design is such that the lenses will break out of the bridge. I had read those reviews before but decided to take a chance. That was August of 2015. My glasses broke last week, did not even make it a year. Oh well, I'm within my 1 year warranty so I send them in for lens replacement. Maui Jim contacts me. Apologies and informs me that Amazon purchase (through Eyesave Sunglasses) was not an authorized re-seller and would not honor the warranty. I was offered replacement lenses and nose pads along with a 2 year warranty for $75. I figure I will probably go through at least 2 more pair so I took the offer. I was told they would fix and return mine but it appears they just sent me a new set.To do it all over again, I would probably pass. They are great glasses but just don't hold up well. If you are going to buy them, research the seller to make sure your probably warranty claim will be honored.

I own several pair of MJ currently and have over the ten or more years. With this pair I stepped up to the 2.5 readers (from the 2.0 I was wearing g) for tying on small flies. Not an overall improvement. Yes they are stronger, but the lenses are too myopic of an angle. You have to hold the fly and line very close to your face to get them to focus. Feel like your crossing your eyes the whole time. I will try to get used to them.

Glasses broke and Manufacturer was unwilling to send a replacement part. wanted me to send them back and go all that hassle when all I needed was the little part that goes between the two lenses.

Truly, the best polarized sunglasses on the planet. Would buy 100 times over. You can’t go wrong with Maui Jim’s. Great sunglasses. They are the only ones I’ve purchased over the last 20 years and will definitely stand behind that.

A pain to clean but worth having. I don’t have to carry two pairs of glasses while I am out.

This is my second pair of Maui Jim Readers. I have them in both brown and black and they are the best there is on on market today. The bifocal is not apparent to someone looking at you, yet they are lightweight, stylish, and do the trick when you have to read something in the sun or shade. Best of all they are polarized which is a must for me when participating in outdoor activities.

This is my second pair of Maui Jim sunglasses. I just love them! They are light-weight, constructed extremely well, fashionable and affordable. My previous pair last more than 4 years of almost daily use since I live in the south. I highly recommend them.

Perfect for when I need!!

Good quality glasses with excellent pol filter

I have to say I am very pleased with these sunglasses. I was getting fed up with having to keep removing my sunglasses to see the details on my phone, and these are an excellent solution. They look great (in my opinion) and seem very well made. The polarized lenses are very good, and once you get used to the different section of reading lens at the bottom you can have the benefit of reading glasses without the expense of varifocals. They were recommended by my optician, and as I said I am very pleased.

Wore them nearly all day every day last summer ... the reading part of the lens is a tad small but that is fine most of the time. The only downside .... I kept forgetting to take my indoor glasses shopping!!

Ace!

This is the second pair I have purchased. Once you adjust to the bi-focal nature they are indispensable. No more doubling sunglasses and readers.
