The Rocket Model: Practical Advice for Building High Performing Teams

There are lots of approaches to team development, but this book makes it simple. A basic approach, grounded in the fundamentals, this text has both theory and practical application. It does refer to proprietary assessments that are a cost outside of the text, but the book ALSO explains how to proceed without those assessments -- how to get into the conversations and decisions that teams need to have in order to be successful. Excellent advice for team leaders/managers. You should be able to do this without a consultant, however if you are a team development consultant this book is helpful in how to work with a team and no budget for "extras". Highly recommend.

Excellent science-based but practical advice on team leadership and strategic team building. The book contains 17 immediately applicable, field-tested activities to help leaders and consultants improve team functioning in any organization. The most precious thing about the book is that it gives you the mental model, the roadmap of what really matters in teamwork. The model can be mapped to whatever you have been already doing with your team, helping you find gaps and improvement opportunities.

As organizational effectiveness consultants we are always looking for models that are simple and clear, yet powerful in their application and with a strong research base. The Rocket Model has all of those. It's very useful both for OD professionals and for leaders who want to take their teams to the next level. We highly recommend it.

Useful book with a solid framework which provides ample tools and techniques for building high performing teams. Would recommend one read if interested in building better teams or improving existing teams. Lots of practical tools
