Have purchased in past. Lasted a few years. Have purchased a 2nd time as is used during winter months to monitor wind directions.

I love having this windsock. It’s cool because this is what airports use to help planes identify the wind direction and wind speed. But for those of us who are ground bound, there is still a use for it. I use it to tell what direction the wind is blowing. It cannot tell wind speed like one you find at the airport, but I can get a good idea of the speed of the wind by looking at it’s orientation to the ground. It also tells me if it’s a steady breeze or off and on.Besides all that it just looks cool. This is the second one I have purchased. I’ve had the other one for a year. As you can tell by the pictures, the one flying has faded substantially. That’s the reason for the 4 stars, because the fading began quite quickly after putting it up. I think the fading tapered off after some time, but I would suggest using some UV protectant on it before flying it, if possible.A must for weather buffs and someone who wants a unique decoration for their yard.

This is the sock I use for my RC Airplane Field. It has held up better than others, and the price is right so I dont mind replacing it after a year. I bought this one December 23, 2021 and its just beginning to show wear, and some seams are beginning to part so I am getting a new one now.You wont get a wind speed reading from this sock. The material is very light and a 5-10mph wind will fill it. All I need it for is to see the wind direction, and give a semblance of authenticity to my runway. Paramotor fliers often use it as a guide.I could buy a $100 heavy duty sock, but it probably wouldnt hold up much longer and I dont need to know wind speeds. If they are over 10mph I'm not flying RC airplanes anyway.

Color fades out quickly. Material does not last and begins ripping in less than a year.
