This is the fastest and most inexpensive to add an RPM counter to your car. I verify its RPM readings with a digital diagnostic tool and they are close. Physical installation is a snap with Velcro tape. My main complaint is the instructions were written in pseudo English, you have to decipher them. An RPM counter is useful to operate your engine in the most efficient way, and avoid over-revving it (reduced engine longevity).

I used this with a 2002 Ford E350 with coil packs and wrapped the sensor wire around the spark plug wire on one cylinder. After a few months of usage that spark plug of that cylinder was burned down to the base and I got a 'no spark' on that cylinder and needed to replace that spark plug. All other spark plugs were still fine. All spark plugs had been replaced about 1 year prior.While it was working it was working fine though and displayed the correct RPM.

I sent the first one back because I thought it was defective. I realize now it wasn't.Nowhere in the instructions does it mention that you must remove the battery cover and pull out the plastic tab to activate it.Amazon is great they sent out a new one immediately, provided UPS to come to my door with a shipping label to send the defective one back free of charge. I love Amazon's service.

I used this product for a less than 2 weeks, first rain was it's last rain because it quit working. The instructions didn't mention how to get it to come on . The cheap O ring that is supposed to seal it up is where the problem came from. Noticed that when I took the piece out from under the battery so it will come on. If it could handle rain it would be great it can't so its not worth much to me and shouldn't be listed as water proof. Not even water resistant

Defective item received? Installed on Tohatsu 6hp 4 stroke and programmed to 1P2r as per instructions but the idle rpm was off, reading 2400rpm. Changed plug wire wrapping from 1-6 turns and no changes in rpm reading. Also my WOT reading was 7400rpm; which is not correct. I tried all other program settings and the rpm readings were even worse. 6 hours of troubleshooting and 36 minutes of runtime starting & stopping engine, then finally repackaged for return.

Reacts very slowly.Misses a lot of updates.You do indeed get what you pay for.If you want this as an hour meter for a lawnmower, I'd say it should work fine.Otherwise, buy something better.

Added this to my new 9.9 Merc motor. I like the lit display which can also be turned off. You can also put it to sleep so the display blanks and saves power. BONUS is you can replace the battery.

I’ve bought two of these now, they’re extremely useful for keeping track of hours run and monitoring the RPM. Installation is nice and easy once you figure out the best place to mount it you can stick it in place with the velcro pads and run the wire into the engine housing. It’s trial and error to get the amount of turns right but very easy to do, one one of my engines three turns was good and on the other it needed one or two more. Then it’s just a case of selecting the correct setting in the menu for the engine and that’s it. They’re really well priced in comparison to some other brands and I can’t see any reason why they wouldn’t be as good as more expensive brands.
