Not for youth 10-12
I gave this to a little boy for his 5th grade graduation present. He saw it on Amazon and said he had always wanted one. Upon opening it, he was excited and dropped it. It got so tangled, it wasn't usable. I have ordered another one to replace it. I'm hoping that he will be more careful this time. I had to order him another one because he was so upset about dropping it 🤷

You get what you pay for- cheap is cheap!
This is a perfectly good device as long as no one touches it except a calm and careful adult. My 5th graders broke it in about 2 seconds - they were not supposed to be touching it but...stuff happens. It is attractive, but made from plastic and easily tangled strings. Great prop, but not meant to be messed with.

REALLY FLIMSY
When I got this item the ball and string were all tangled and it took me a couple hours to get it all untangled. It’s a flashing light so not a stable light! Not a good idea for a gift and for the price NOT WORTH IT

Cheap Newton's cradle
Plastic Newton's cradle except the balls so it doesn't work properly. The whole structure needs to be made of metal so that the vibrations of the balls when they hit don't absorb so easily and it functions properly. Because the structure was plastic it absorb the vibrations and the balls/ shakes so they stop shortly after you start them. I definitely got what I paid for a cheap Newton's cradle.
