My Top Book for Evaluating Learning
Walvoord is amazing. Like her second edition of Assessment Clear and Simple (which came out SHORTER in the revision--even more clear and simple!) this book is just the most useful resource for getting to the basics and essentials of evaluating learning in any setting. Besides helpful rubrics and timesaving tips, it's got a variety of styles and approaches to overall course grading systems. My top recommendation on grading, in my work in faculty development.P.S. I saw Walvoord present at NEFDC in 2007 and she facilitated that workshop quite well too. It included rubrics for assessing classroom participation, which I've since used.

Good Book.
This book by Walvoord and Anderson is a must for committed teachers in any discipline. It is a large format book in an easy to ready and understand format. The strategies and techniques discussed can be applied to teaching in any discipline. Even though the context in which the book is written in American, the underlying philosophy is universally applicable. The end result of going through this particular book is that now for me, grading student assignments, term papers, reports and presentation has become unambiguous, fair, justifiable and learning oriented.Highly recommended.

高等教育の学修と評価の在り方の具体を示しながら、ともすれば抽象的にしか記述されてこなかった学士課程教育の授業について、学生に理解されやすいシラバスの書き方、学生自身が授業をどの程度達成できているかの自己評価と客観テストとの整合性を、学生と教授する側が同時に把握し、授業改善に役立てる過程について理解できる点で、我が国ではこれまでなかった授業評価の新機軸が示唆される書であった。
