simple and good-looking
The instructions were clear enough for me, the actual construction was quite simple, and since it's so loose, it requires hardly any fitting. I wish there had been a center-front marked - it wasn't clear how much overlap is intended.

A little confusing at first, but once figured out, the perfect pattern for what I needed!
I would like to start out saying that I'm not an expert sewer but I'm not a beginner either. I've done Victorian clothing before so I figured I could tackle this pattern. This is a gift for a friend. Since he likes to wear it when we are camping (long story) and it can get chilly out I wanted to line it with a quilted fabric, since my friend's measurements fell between sizes listed on the pattern I went up and added a 1/2 inch to all the seams to make up for the bulk I'd be adding. It worked out perfectly! The only thing I have left to do is finish the collar hem and do the sash. I didn't give it 5 stars because there are a few points in the instructions that are not very clear. It gets a bit tricky in reading the directions when you quilt the collar and cuffs as opposed to leaving the fabric smooth. I tend to pin and re-pin things till it makes sense to me seems to work. But other than this being a pattern for someone who has better than average sewing skills or at least the ability to figure out instructions, this pattern is really nice! The cut is roomy as it should be and looks very comfortable. I can't say how it will fit until my friend gets to try it on!All in all I like this pattern. I have a couple other patterns from this company and I like them all! I will be getting more I'm sure!

Still making it - directions a little vague on the collar. I followed the instructions, but the collar is sewn right sides together, and I can't imagine how that is going to work out later. Stalled. I will ask for help from the sewing shop or my mother. Largest size for a man might need to be enlarged for a man with 47" chest. Overall, pretty easy to cut out and follow.

Advanced, but amazing.
Excellent pattern, very straigtforward. Uses padstitching, quilting, and flat felled seams which is awesome. I learned a lot about tailoring and properly made collars. I really love it!

Classic Smoking Jacket
I had been on a search through several pattern catalogs and unfortunantely I was not able to find a smoking jacket pattern for my husband. I decided to search Amazon and after typing a few key words, much to my surprise and I found exactly what I'd been looking for. The seller sent me the pattern immediately. Once I received the pattern, I couldn't believe how easy it is to make the jacket and I will be making one for myself and several more for my husbad.

The information on this ad was very unclear.
I had no idea this was a paper pattern where you have to cut your own material and sew it together. I continued to look on the ad for the size...then I figured that because it was belted, it could be any size.No where on this ad was it posted, "If you like to sew, this is your ticket." Or anything of the such.Very disappointed as this was even gift wrapped to be opened in Napa Valley for my boyfriend. I can't even imagine the look on his face when he saw a paper pattern of a smoking jacket...UGH!!

Classic smoking jacket
Pattern is great, but if you are over 44" in the chest (I am) you need a tailor who can compensate for that, luckily had a great one.
