Great for KITTENS/CATS get bored quickly
I bought this for my adult cats and they stayed interested for 5-8 minutes, max, then flopped down to watch it. LOLGave it to a girlfriend who has a rescue, and the kittens LOVE IT & get hours of play time! 😻

great toy, can be battery intensive
My cats love this toy. I have a new kitten that goes nuts over it. He never tires of it. My 2.5 year old enjoys it as well. It is now his favorite toy. My 15 year old cat also occasionally joins in the fun and she rarely plays with cat toys anymore. One thing is that without the butterfly, the motor is very quiet. You don't realize the toy is on. My kitten loves to catch the butterfly and run off with it. The toy is actually still running and you don't notice. I have already burned through a set of batteries in just a few weeks. Now I know to check that it is off if the butterfly is missing. The butterfly is fairly sturdy. My kitten abuses it and drags it around the house, but it still looks ok.

This gave us our evening relaxation time back!
Our cat always chooses to play when we're trying to eat dinner and/or relax after dinner. He only bats around his floor toys for a certain amount of time & then gets bored & craves engagement, & if he didn't get it he would start acting up & being naughty. We tried to engage him & get him to play at alternate times, but nope he only wanted this playtime. So we'd always have to stop eating dinner or get up from relaxing after to constantly toss or roll his toys or fling little toys we had tied string to to make them 'run' across the floor so that he could chase something actively moving etc. This toy gave him the engagement & motion he craved & we now have our evening back- win, win! We are several months in & this is still his favorite toy. We like that not only does it rotate, but the butterfly flutters. We'll leave it on for an hour or 2 in the evening & he loves to alternate tackling the moving butterfly with batting around his other toys- it really filled in what he needed perfectly. We use rechargeable batteries. He couldn't care less about the balls in the track- the moving butterfly is the ticket for him. The only thing is if you have a pretty 'violent' butterfly hunter, you could go through the butterflies pretty quickly. Ours likes to tackle & pull down the butterfly & after a while this bends the wire it's on which really starts to slow down the rotation & lose the fluttering motion, & it can only be bent back so many times. So a sturdier wire would be nice. Thank goodness they sell butterfly replacement sets, we're about to order one now! We've gone thru 2 butterflies in about 3 months, but the replacement cost isn't too bad for the amount of enjoyment this brings him & the amount of time it gives us back.

My Kitten Loves It and It's Holding Up To Her Abuse (LOL)
My cat started playing with the balls first and seemed leery about the butterfly. Soon she was chasing the butterfly, grabbing it and biting it. She does this every time and it's been a few days since we've had the toy. I keep examining the butterfly to make sure no pieces have been bitten off. This is one sturdy toy! Our Deja loves playing with this. Sometimes she'll lay there pushing the balls around with the butterfly fluttering above her and sometimes she's playing with both simultaneously. When she's in chase mode, it helps give her plenty of exercise. I'm very impressed that with all she's done to the butterfly, it pops right up and keeps fluttering after she's mauled it. I can't even tell it's been bitten. There are two more butterflies for when she finally wears this one out. It's fun to watch her play with it; I'm glad I decided to get this toy.Update: Two days after I posted this review, she bit off one side of the butterfly's wings and the ribbons came off. I was able to tie the ribbons back on where they remain. I still maintain that after all the abuse she has subjected this toy to, it's amazing that I can still use that butterfly. So I will not change the number of stars. Also, it doesn't have to be "on" (in motion) for her to want to play with it, so the batteries have lasted a long time.

Overall good but Wire bends extremely quickly
Overall a good product, I had some higher hopes but the wire that holds the butterfly piece bends at the base extremely quickly, it will still work but it quickly become loud and after about 2 days of use I had to switch out to a new butterfly piece. I was hoping for a week at least. Now for the good, my cat loves this thing, I turn it on and she comes running, it gets her energy out and keeps her from going after my toddlers toes as they run around, overall a good purchase just wish I had bought more of the butterfly pieces

Best cat toy ever
I love this cat toy. My cats hate me because I won't let them use it, it's so fun. But, seriously... I really do love this thing because my cats are obsessed with it. It gives them literally hours of enjoyment at a time. The build quality is good. I thought that the cats would destroyed the butterflies that came with it but they haven't even put a dent in the first one (it comes with three). I'm amazed at the battery life on this thing. It takes three AA batteries and has been going for at least ten hours on the first set I put in there. The cats never play with the ball in the track part. I can't blame them. The butterfly is cool enough to keep my, I mean their attention. Now, if you'll ex use me, I'm going to join the cats batting the butterfly around.

Cat loves it
Such a fun toy! Our seven-year-old cat loves to stalk and pounce on the butterflies. He loses interest after a while, but I've witnessed my friend's two-year-old cat play with this thing for hours, so if you have a younger cat, this is a must-buy. We had difficulty getting it to work at first, but that might've just been user error. Make sure to use good, new batteries (don't try to test it with old batteries you took out of a light fixture, like I did lol) and also make sure you don't shove the butterfly all the way down when you're attaching it. If you do, it will get stuck and won't move. Also, it doesn't come with batteries, so make sure you have 3 AAs on hand. Very happy it came with extra butterflies!
