Still Amazing!
I've been wanting one of these for some time, and couldn't pass up the deal, $99 plus "3" games! You cannot go wrong with this purchase. There is still a lot of software out there for this model and with great pricing available. Ultimately I'll get a newer version, but this I got as a hand-me-down to my toddler and for road trips. The quality isn't on-par as the earlier version(s), this one is ALL plastic, but seems as though it will hold up to little hands! I would highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a nice hand-held gaming unit. Still some of the best graphics around on any hand held device!

For an older system it still has uses
I bought this system as a replacement for my older fat model, which still works but I can't connect it to the TV with a Component cable. Also the battery on the old fat doesn't hold much of a charge.I'll start with the games, the 3 pack-in games probably aren't going to sell you on the system but I don't mind adding them to my collection. Cars 2 is a mediocre movie tie-in game. Ratchet and Clank is a decent platformer, it suffers a bit in the control department from lack of dual analog and no extra shoulder triggers, but it makes the most of what it has and is a decent game for it. Finally, Ape Escape is a port of the original PS1 game, but they had to change it for lack of a second analog stick. The rework is hit or miss depending on the player, it's actually easier to control because each item is assigned to a button, but this loses a bit of the fun from the original. They also added new mini-games and a few extras, so it's probably the best of the bunch. As for the system itself, I was surprised how light it is compared to the fat, very light and easy to hold and play for a while. I'm not sold on the glossy black finish, I prefer the grip of the textured surface on the fat. The UMD tray is simplified also, which is probably a good thing as the fat tended to catch on the UMD case and has more points of potential failure. The screen is supposed to be slightly better, I don't seem to see the pixels as clearly as I do on the fat, it's bright, the colors are vivid, and it's the same size as the original. The tiny speaker ports are moved higher on the console, which is good, but they don't seem to be covered in any way, which I dislike, but shouldn't be a major issue. Finally the biggest issue I have with it is the wi-fi, I really wish Sony would do one last update to the firmware and let it use current WPA2 and WEP2 encryption, but for now you'll have to use WEP or WPA connection to hook it up to the internet. This doesn't stop you from loading content from a computer or PS3, aside from potential validation issues with PS+ games.

Not bad - purchased as a Gift
Purchased this for my nephew as a gift and he says he likes it. But I did not see him play as often as he used to and said it is just OK.

Happy grandson
I know its a slightly older system but what does my 6 year old grandson know about that. I bought it for his birthday because i know its a good system for a child. And for the price it came with five games, battery pack and charger. What a deal. If i would have gone with the newer vita i would have paid 300 just for the system. Great buy for a younger child. He loved it. So did i for the price and all the perks

PSP BUNDLE
Received The PSP Bundle that I order for my Grandson for Christmas, on Dec 18th. That was great. I was so afriad we wouldn't get it in time. Because after I had ordered it. They said it could arrive anywhere from the 24th to the 29th. That upset me because it said if ordered today would receive it between the 13th and 18th. I opened the delivery box and everything was there. The game console and the 3 games. I did not open the console box. Just prayed that it would work. After all it was new and never used. My 8 yr old was so excited, when he opened it. Everything was there except the memory card. Which my daughter picked one up because it was not listed on the box.The only thing we didn't know is that you could no longer get games for the PSP. They are out dated. We did find some at our local Game Stop. But he was happy with it, it works great. You see 2 yrs ago someone stoled his from his home along with his games. u can imagen at 5 how his heart was broke. and his favorite game was Dexter which we couldn't find at game stop.and now he wants call of duty.ugh!. thank you J & J Tech. ypu made 1 little boy very happy.
