NECA Collectible Texas Chainsaw Massacre Ultimate Leatherface 7" Scale Action Figure

Being a long-term collector of action figures, with an emphasis on horror movie characters, I was excited when this figure was released. I generally keep my figures in the package, but since Leatherface is my all time favorite character, I went ahead and purchased two of these. One to open, and one to stay sealed. I had hopes to send my sealed figure to Gunnar Hansen to have it signed, but with his recent passing I will, unfortunately, no longer be able to do so. My figures arrived in mint condition, and I was excited to see that they used the original film poster as the front of the packaging. This poster has become iconic, and I could think of no better way to honor the 40th anniversary of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre.The outer box is the same size and shape as NECA's recent classic video game appearance line of figures. Since I also collect that series, it was cool to see that this figure would match them. I noticed that the packaging has been slightly altered from the first figures of that series, since they were released shrink-wrapped. This figure is not wrapped, it is unsealed with a flap that opens to show a clear window so the 7" figure can be seen. I'm on the fence about this. I like that I can see the figure without removing it from the package, but I also dislike that the figure feels unsealed to me and I dislike that the clear plastic merchandising hanger is glued to the inside of the rear of the box, and cannot be removed without damaging the packaging. This is my anal collector side coming out, and while this probably won't bother most, I mention it for the discerning collector. NECA could consider moving back to shrink-wrap, or consider using a perforated hanger so that it could be removed without damage. The background behind the figure shows the red wall with all the animal skulls on it. In the movie, this is where the metal sliding door is and is our first look at Leatherface, I like that NECA used that background as it seems fitting for this figure.The figure itself is highly detailed and appears to be high quality. For the figure that I opened for display, I had no problems putting the chainsaw into his hands and positioning him in a standing position with the chainsaw over his head. The figure also includes an alternate head, and a variety of smaller tools, some of which seem to be random additions. I don't recall them all from the movie, but, Leatherface can never have too many implements of killing, so the added tools make for lots of display options. The apron on this figure isn't 100% screen accurate, it is fully tan in color, while the screen version is a muted yellow with more of a dirty white cloth for the neck loop. With that being said, I think this version looks very good and is probably closer to what was intended for the screen anyhow, although I haven't read or seen anything to confirm this, it is simply my opinion. Let's take a look at some pros and cons:Pros:-Beautiful packaging with attention to film details-High quality, detailed and very posable figure-Includes an alternate head and assortment of toolsCons:-Plastic merchandising hanger attached to package with no way of removal without damage-Not shrink-wrapped-Figure is not 100% screen accurateAll in all, I feel that this is an excellent addition to any collection. Despite a few nitpicks that are mostly packaging related, this is probably one of the best Leatherface figures that has ever been released. I would encourage any collector, whether you collect NECA, horror movie figures, or you're just looking to spice up a home theater room, to grab one (or two) of these while you can. I would rate this figure at 5/5 stars and I look forward to the upcoming ultimate Jason figure that will be out soon and to anything else that NECA releases.

The media could not be loaded. This is by far my favorite figurine. Leather face of Texas chainsaw massacre! The attention to detail is superb! The condition of the box was undamaged. Great value for your money.

This is one of the best neca figures out there. It has a ton of accessories and is very detailed. It is very accurate to how the character is shown in the movie, too, so it is easy to recreate your favorite moments from the movie. Overall, I would recommend it to everyone who collects neca figures, likes the movie, or just wants a cool figure.

Keep in mind, that the odds are (unless you buy it used) you will be getting the re-released version which includes a slightly different design to the box (No '40th anniversary' text), and alterations to the apron including a new blood splatter design.This figure looks amazing. In the movie it looked like Leatherface's shirt had a pinkish color, and something about this figure's mask looks off (I think it's the narrowness and the color) but overall I love it and I'm happy with my purchase.Highly recommend picking one of these up to any TCM or horror fans.Cons:- The hands are a hard plastic which makes it difficult to insert the chainsaw. (I find it easier if you do the left hand first)- The small knife makes no sense, it has a string/stick coming out of the side which makes it impossible to hold.- The item I bought was NEW but had white scuffs on the butt and crotch. (Thankfully the apron covers the one on the front)I do wish this figure included the 'Pretty Lady' face, but oh well, it's still great.(Bought from 'LikeMind Brands' for anyone interested. A lot of people wind up buying fakes, this should go without saying but make sure to check the sellers reviews)

Another cool Neca figure, I'm glad mine had the alternative blood splatter compared to the one in the photo on the box, as that one looks kinda budget. Cool figure for any true horror film fanatic, like myself.
