Great value, love the extra battery
I ordered this drill and All Trade 835113 90 Piece Drill Bit Assortment in Plastic Case in anticipation of starting work on a complete remodel of my house. I've had it for about three months now, and I've used the bejesus out of it. I'm no home improvement expert. I have some highly skilled friends who handle most of the dirty work, and they use the drill regularly, too, when working on my house. For now, the battery life is awesome. When we manage to drain a battery in a single day, having a second battery is wonderful. I'm diligent about taking the batteries off of the charger after they've been on it for four or five hours, to try to extend their life. They're NiCad's, so I'm sure they'll die eventually. I haven't drilled concrete or anything, but the drill has more than enough power to handle everything I've asked of it. I used a circular saw to cut through a layer of drywall and a two-by-four to snake a microwave power cord through with no trouble. It drives wood screws into studs with appropriate power, and on the lowest setting, works great even with machine screws into threaded sockets. One of my friends used it to build (frame, drywall, and whatever else) three closets in one day, on a single battery charge. I really appreciate that there are two double headed driver bits fitted into the base of the drill; don't have to hunt around for a screwdriver. The case is blow molded, but not overly cheap. I haven't had much opportunity to actually USE the case, though, since the drill is in such constant use, there's no point in putting it away!In short, unless you need a ridiculously powerful monstrosity for some crazy tough application, there's no beating this critter for the price.

Drill Fine: Battery AWFUL!
Looked like a good deal. Nice grip, nice light and easy chuck and nice torque. But battery dropped charge a few days after a full charge when brand new. Wouldn't recharge. Company replaced charger and battery. In the interim, during the swap, I purchased a second "kit" on sale that was the same price as a new battery. Now I own two drills and two batteries. Great backup, I thought. Now I own two dead batteries that will not take a charge. The drills have been use a total of less than a total of 30 minutes since purchased. Considering the price of both units, that comes out to about $5. a hole!I would NEVER buy a nicad battery household tool or appliance again. From now on. Lithium is the choice for intermittent and infrequent use.---JP

Not entirely what I expected
I bought this drill kit on Amazon because it was less then replacing the battery on my old 14v Milwaukee. (There is something seriously wrong with that picture.)I saw 19.2 volts and assumed it was a powerful drill at a great price. Like a RyobiWell it may be 19.2v but it is certainly not powerful. It only takes 3/8" bits... and the LED on the charger never shuts off. Ever. Leading me to return the first one, which Amazon promptly and gracefully replaced. There is some good news. Its compact, and easy to handle. Fit and finish is "you get what you pay for", but it is certainly not worst in class. The case is compact and well designed. The little light is nice, and it has other features that you used to only get on substantially more expensive contractor grade gear.Just not sure how long it will last. But for less then a battery, maybe I don't really care.Fine for a home owner - if you are going to use it for a living I would take a pass.

Purchasing a Second after 4 years
I received my first 840110 for Christmas from a club house store, several years ago. I once thought I had stripped a gear but the problem was I had the torque adjuster all the way down, boy I am glad I did not get rid of it then. The NI-CAD batteries are finally getting old and last about an hour now, so I am ordering a new one. Why?because $200 for a Lithium ion makes no since when I can get this for $50 bucks with two batteries and best of all I now have two drills, one for starting screws (small drill bit), and one with Phillips head for driving screws. The Drill is a tough unit and well balanced, a little heavy when holding horizontal one handed (on a ladder). The batteries are the real issue with this unit, but for $50 bucks, its gets the job done. also the batteries are subC cells and can be replaced if you are handy with a soldering gun. I have the original 1 hr charger so it was cheaper for me to buy this package, then to get one replacement battery. Don't leave the batteries in the charger and you will be alright. recall was on 1-hr charger not this one, and I never had a problem with mine. What I am waiting for is alltrade to offer a lithium 19.2 replacement battery in their uni-source battery line.If you are not using it professionally then buy it, what do you have to loose for $50, one lithium battery is $100 bucks for any other unit.
